Serial interface and 1 bar OS SD custom

OK, I feel I'm a smart guy and I searched but I'm not understanding.

Can I add 1 bar OS SD to a serial connection? ($50)

Or do I have to upgrade to the new USB cable to do it? ($150 for cable and $50 for custom OS).

If I can add it to serial, what am I losing by NOT getting the MPVI cable? Besides USB connectivity.

My customer login upgrade page shows I can buy it I just want to make sure. I plan on going full SD and would rather have the HI octane table capabilty and the new VE-TPS-RPM capability.

Last question, I think I know the answer. To take advantage of the IAT bias table, I need to upgrade to a 2002 OS. If i do that in my 99 car, do I need to buy the 02 year for HPTuners?

    Thanks, sorry for the noobishness.

All upgrades are done through your customer login page, prices are outlined there as well, but yes you can add 1 bar OS SD to a serial interface.

The MPVI PRO cable is capable of standalone datalogging as well as logging separate inputs.

Both Std & Pro MPVI interfaces will scan & tune hundreds of vehicles that the serial interfaces cannot ie most 05+ vehicles the serial interface cannot communicate with.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
