Anyone know if this is possible?
I have a 2006 GTP tranny that I got for a project. The project is a 3800 but it is a throttle cable engine setup. I figure I can not run the 2006 Throttle by wire setup on an engine with a Throttle cable. (or can I?)
I was planning to pick up an older PCM from back when the 3800's were still using throttle cables. I am a bit worried that the ecu wont run the newer transmission though.
Anyone have any insight?
You should be able (if you have the assembly) to fit the fly by wire throttle body assembly onto the old 3800. It should work okay. As far as running the old pcm with the new trans, i dont know. Wait around for another answer.
No such thing as a 2006 GTP.

you need a very specific 03 PCM, the way the transmission functions was changed in 03 and it is needed to run any 03+ tranny
An 03 file will not work as the hardware is different aswell.
Crash, it would be nice to know what year tranny you have. I have a write up somewhere on here or at 3800pro that deals with the conversion to an 03' tranny. It's a wiring change and delete code for shift error. Do a search.
