    04 Monte Supercharged Shift Points

...Just curious if someone could recomend the highest shift points for a 2004 Supercharged Monte that I can run safely.

Current mods are 3" Exhaust, Cold Air Intake, 3.5" Pulley, Autolite 104's, and SLP Headers.

I am running shift points of 5500 on the 1-2 and 2-3
I am running a shift point of 5000 on the 3-4

Can I go much higher without worrying about valvetrain damage/ float?

Line pressure has been increased accross the board and shift speed has been adjusted.

    Thanks for the input.

You dont want to just raise the shift points without finding out where your power band is. If your peak power is at 6200 then it starts to fall on its face, set them to just below that. Most M90 cars I've tuned start to drop off after 5800.

5800 should be alright. Basically though what the guy above you is saying is that revving higher than you have to, you start shooting yourself in the foot, wasting time that could be used in the next gear, and increase engine stress or wear.

That said, You can probably google around and find a hp/tq sheet from GM for your engine. I used to have a link to the GM Media Archive where they had pictures of all that stuff, but sadly i dont have it anymore. They had dyno sheets for just about every engine though. Maybe someone else has it on here.

Dont forget that it takes a few hundred RPM to complete a shift also. Meaning that if you want to shift at 5800 RPM you should set the shift points to something a little lower such as 5700 - 5750 depending on how fast your car can complete a shift.
