    LS2 to LS7 swap??

Anyone know if you can bolt an LS7 in place of an LS2? Customer with a tired 05 Vette is looking for options to replace his motor. Money is not a problem for him. He's thinking of putting a crate LS7 in there, or open to any other options. The car has the Magnuson blower on it right now with long tubes.

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks guys!

05 used the 24x reluctor... Gotta change that on the crank first.

It would make more sense to me to build a short block for it, but then again I don't have money to waste

How about something like an LS3? The LS7 is dry sump and all, so it might be a more involved install.

He's really just looking for something out of the crate to stick in there, to hold him over for a while till he decides to go twin turbo.

Twin turbo LS3 would make for a nice setup, indeed....

What's the difference between an LS2 and LS3, parts wise?

    everything lol

The heads are different, the intake is different, it is a 6.2L, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that is true.

And you still have the 24x reluctor issue on the LS3. However I think the LS2 & LS3 cranks are the same so you could just swap in a 2005 or earlier LS2 crank.

So I assume that is part of the crank, or at least something that requires a crank change? Not just like a trigger wheel swap or anything?

I'm a Ford guy so the GM stuff is still new to me.

    Thanks!

Some shops can change out the reluctor wheel. You'll have to talk to a crankshaft shop to be certain of the procedure and requirements.
