2nd gear select won't work

Using the VCM controls in the scanner, When i select it to a certain gear, doesn't matter, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, they all stick the car in 1st gear. am i doing something wrong? I've tried leaving the shifter in D or selecting the gear i'm commanding but no workie.

Make sure it is hooked up and it is scanning come to a stop leave it in gear select 2nd in VMC controls the button should change colors. See if the gear PID reads 2 if not try driving 5 ft and see if it shifts. You might want to make sure you have the latest stable release of the software. I have not had any problems using this with my 2003 GP GT.
