I'd a assume they would have a pin on the pcm but you never know i can turn it on in the pcm and turn it of and on in the scanner but that don't always meen anything either

Man, I'd like to see a write-up, with pictures, on how to connect aftermarket e-fans (added to a vehicle that originally came with a belt driven fan) to a GM ecm.

Anybody ever see anything like this?

I'm trying to figure out this too. All the info I can find on this board is for 2001+ ecm's.

Well I have a 99. I'd just like to know where I need to add a pin at the ecm or if its even possible to do?

Far as I can tell you need to add a pin to location #42 on your blue connector. That would be a ground provided by the ecm to turn off and on the relay. Again, this is what I gathered from searching the board and can't tell you if its correct info or not.

blue 42 for low, red 33 for high. I've used blue 42 to control a 1 speed fan and it works. I set HPT to control fan 1 turn on temp where I want it, and fan 2 turn on temp at 255.

    Got pics???
Cause, it'd be really cool to see a tutorial on this...

What exactly do you need pics of? I can write it out for you just as easy as I can take pics. I'll be glad to do either, but I just need to know what you don't understand so I can get you the info you need.

There are pics of the fan and the relays in this thread

    http://www.v8rx7forum.com/v8-rx-7-bu...vortec-t5.html

but it doesn't show any specifics. If you look at it, you'll see there are 2 fan relays, but I'm only using 1 speed. Basically, those are just cheep Chinese relays and one of them probably won't be able to handle the current of the fan, so I wired 2 in parallel, but they're part of the same circuit.

Pics I'm talking about are in post #40.

Sorry, on some of the S10 forums the guys do write ups with pics on
their mods which greatly simplifies things when someone else comes
along and wants to do the same mod.

Just thought some of the mods might be available in that format.

Like I said, I don't mind taking pics, but basically the wiring is like so

BLUE 42 to relay pin 85
key on power to relay pin 86
10ga wire from 30A fused source to pin 30
10ga fan power wire to relay pin 87

Ground the other side of your fan motor.

That will give you low speed fan control. If you have a 2 speed fan, do the same but pin 85 will go to RED 33 on your second relay instead. You'll need to figure out what power wire is your is your low and high fan power wires, and hook your relays up accordingly.

If you have 2 single speed fans and want low and high control, I can give you a write up on how to run both fans at low and high (yes, I can turn single speed fans into 2 speed fans with the right relay combination... hell, GM does it on most of their cars)

BTW, what mods do you have to your truck?

What I don't understand first off is where exactly do you connect to the PCM
if you want to control both electric fans using HP Tuners. (Pics would
    help me on that)

What I'd like to do is rig it up where one fan comes on at say 190 degrees,
and the second one comes on at say 210 for full fan cooling ability when
sitting in traffic or sitting there idling. (I'm flexible on what temp to make
each of these come on at pending reply from someone who knows mores
    'bout this suff than i)

Then, since neither fan will probably be needed out on the highway
and both should go off by themselves, I'd like to rig up a pusher fan
in front of the AC Condenser that comes on and stays on anytime I
have the AC on (cause it be VERY hot here in Texas and I LOVE air conditioning!)

How would a fella rig all this up?

On the PCM plugs. Look at them and you'll see what I mean when I say, BLUE 42. There will be a vacant position on the BLUE connector at position 42. Put a PCM pin into that position and run it to a relay.

The way you want the fans controlled is the exact way the stock PCM will control them, you just have to hook them up and turn them on. Pretty easy. I would post pics, but it's late and raining outside.

Only problem is, I'm not exactly sure where you are talking about.

I have 2 boxes under the hood of my '03 S10 pickup.
Which one is the PCM and which one is the BCM?

But, once the right one has been identified I just
tap into the BLUE connector at position 42 for
fan #1....where does fan #2 connect to?

And, how do do you identify "position 42" ?

Having never done anything like this before,
these are the kinds of questions I'd have.

See if this helps. These are the PCM connector end views...

BTW - The PCM is mounted on the coolant overflow tank on the right side of the engine compartment.

Yes, that helps. I assume this is facing the place where the harness plugs into to PCM.
I guess I'll need to experiment and see if I can get this to work.

What about running a pusher fan on the AC Condenser?
Is there a port that becomes hot anytime your AC comes on?

If I could rig that up, the fans for the radiator could be off
while still being able to ensure air flow across the AC Condensor

This way the fans for the radiator won't have to run continually
which is how it would be if I got one of those little electric
fan control modules (like Flax-A-Lite offers)

OK, so fan #1 plugs into the 42 slot...where does fan #1 plug in to?

And, how do you make the computer turn the fans on when the AC is running?
