Problem with 1-2 and 2-3 shifts

I have tried all kinds of different settings to get the car to shift under full throttle at the desired shift points (6200). I now have the WOT shif RPM set as low as 5500 and MPH in the Normal HOT and Performance cells. And the WOT Shift Vs Speed in all those cells set as follows. 1-2 shift 35mph. 2-3 shift 80 MPH. The car still hits the rev limiter at 6500 where I have it set now. I have the desired shift time vs TQ at 0.1000 in normal and 0.0000 in performance and have tried 0.0000 in normal and it still will not shift. The car shifted fine with the preditor program that was in the car before(I did put the stock setting back in). Any ideas ?

I finally got mine to shift but had to move trans scaler way down alot but it will shift but does not match speedo readings in tuners cells. I f I leave scaler where everthing matches up iy will not shift WOT.

If the part throttle shift points are matching the speedo cells, you still have to drop down all your WOT and 100% (maybe even 95%) throttle shift points.

Yes but by how much? I set mine to upshift 1-2 at 6400 and 40mph with a 6600 rev limit and it hit the limiter. I scaled it back to 6250 and 38mph and the tacho reads just over 6500 and shifts but no bouncing the limiter.

    How much back-scaling is enough?
Is it indicative of a poor converter or tranny?
How can I be sure that its shifting at 6400 when its set at 6250 and 38mph?

I am having the same problem you are, I have lowerd the shift points to 70 MPH and 5500 RPM in normal hot and performance. The car is still hitting the rev limiter at 6200 RPM on the 2-3 shift. did you find out how to fix this?

Well, if your speedo is accurate....

and your part throtle shift points are happening when you command them to. IE: You set a part throttle shift point for 3-4 at 50mph and it happens at 50mph (meaning your transmission is calibrated to your speedo as well), then I believe one of the following is happening:

    1) Your shift points are still to high.

    2) You shift point tables are flawwed. For example, you could have a 100% 1-2 shift set to 40mph but you have the 2-1 shift set to 45mph. When the PCM hits that 1-2 40MPH value at 100% TPS, it also compares the 2-1 value and sees that its greater than the 1-2 and thus the car will not shift. (I have seen this a lot on users that are having shift problems)

This is where the graphical displays are nice, you can
see if the upshift and downshift are "tangled up". If
you plot them, upshift line should always be above
    the downshift line.

Some of the Excel sheets I posted in Keith's Excel
Sheet thread are about this and the data in them
shows a proper-looking set of shift profiles.

So what determines if you car goes to WOT tables on transmission. Mine are set as follows:

100% TPS vs shfit WOT vs shift

    38 37
    78 68
    128 120
    32 31
    73 66
    126 118

Which table will it use, and what happens if they are different??

Re: Problem with 1-2 and 2-3 shifts

You want them to be the same, and also the 2 cells immediately prior in the Shift vs. Speed table.

    So...

    WOT vs shift

    1-2 37
    2-3 68
    3-4 120
    2-1 31
    3-2 66
    4-3 118

    87, 94 and 100% TPS cells

    1-2 37
    2-3 68
    3-4 120
    2-1 31
    3-2 66
    4-3 118

Then make sure your RPM makes sense for these speeds. I allow for 10% slip in 1st and 6% slip in 2nd and 3rd through the stock converter.

Looks like you have 3.42 gears. In that case I would set it at

    1-2 6000 37
    2-3 6000 72
    3-4 6000 118

Actually, I have 3.73. Is there something else I should adjust to help 2-3 shift?

Increase line pressure and/or remove torque management. Those are your only other options. Whats your scan look like?
