    going mafless  tranny ?'s

was going to try to go mafless and cant figure out how the MAf ties into the transmission. I thought 98's shifted off speed and rpm. Anyone know how it ties in i had heard it has to do with load Thanks Scott

I believe shiftpoints are just MPH, TPS, RPM but
the transmission pressure modulation is run off
the "torque" calculation, which probably has MAF
(or airflow, perhaps derived off the speed-density
mode in absence of the MAF) in there. But as to
how the torque computation is affected... I guess
the best bet would be to unhook the MAF, and log
the Delivered Torque - Engine and -Transmission
PIDs and see if you still get sane values when you
force it into speed density operation.

in some calibrations MAF failure will also trigger line pressure increases. This is usually earlier code.
