    Torque Management - max retard

As I understand it, LS1-Edit has a field / table for the
maximum amount of spark that can be pulled out by
torque management. In HPTuners I see torque
reduction vs torque vs shift but nothing about a direct
cap on spark pull. I would like to (say) make TM stay
active but only pull a maximum of 10 degrees spark on
shifts, keeping 20 advance so it's not just roll-over-and-
die. Am I misconstruing the torque-reduction table or is
this just a feature yet to be implemented?

I'm searching for the same thing, and so far I have yet to find it. I have the shifts tuned relatively well, but timing is still being pulled at each shift and making the car feel sluggish and unresponsive. Perhaps this is something we need to post in the request forum?

Re: Torque Management - max retard

hptuners said they will address this in the next version iirc.

Honestly i screwed around with tqmgmt a little and went from 6089 shift @30.5 -> 0 -> [email protected]

    after playing a little

    6600 shift @ 30.5 -> 8 -> [email protected]

So it does work, im not sure i want to put any more abuse on my 71K old tranny.

So i know hptuners can take out "more tq mgmt" but honestly how much do you want? full 30.5 degrees on shift? That might be punishing your ordinary tranny.

If you want to punish it. Turn on LOCKUP ON SHIFT at the track That should give you more oomph.

Now if someone can teach me how to set lockup at 75mph in 3rd only, i'll owe you an ice cream cone.

I did this, let's see... the TCC apply/release table vs
TPS vs speed is where this needs to be done. Forget
the one that's lock vs TPS only and is all 100% - it's
OK. In the speed table you probably see a bunch of
255MPH at higher throttle. This means "never lock".
If you set (say) your 3rd gear lock so that all the values
that were greater than 75, are changed to 75, then it
will lock up, period. Lock above, unlock below, seems
to be the scheme for this table / function. So you would
also want to set the unlock line with values like 73, on
anything that used to be above 73. Unlock should
always be lower speed than lock I think, just for sanity.

Actually I did this on the 2nd gear line forcing lockup
at 80MPH (I shift at 82). It made a kind of unhappy
squeal but did sling the car forward a bit.

    Make mine a beersicle.

Tell me more about how you got the thing to dip to +8.
I presume this was by setting torque management
torque reduction vs torque table values? My take on
this is that the amount of spark pulled, will vary by
the delivered / commanded torque (I don't know which
is the basis for this table).

no idea. was dickin around, before it was 0 degrees on shifts, which sucked. I dont think i want full timing on shifts. i do have 71K on trans. Lockup i'll have to think about too...

I got it to improve, slightly - but it's still not wherre I want it to be. In stock form I was only getting 23.5 degrees of advance at WOT, and dropping to 0 at each shift. It was also running about 3% lean, which wasn't helping I don't mind the abuse on the trans - it's a 8k mile stock unit that is coming out very soon. The replacement will be more than capable of handling the abuse.
