Thread: extended OBD2 data for LS1

    extended OBD2 data for LS1

I got a OBD-2 data reader chip for VPW from Alex Peper (http://www.obd-2.com/chip.htm), and am using it with my 99 Corvette.

I can use the data Alex lists on that same link, called "SAE J1979 mode 01 continuious data". It has 1 byte PID's between 0 and 0x1E. What I'd like to find is any additional diagnostic data that I can retrieve, either general GM, or specific to the LS1. Autotap for example has a lot of additional data that isn't in the list I have. I don't have an Autotap, and would like to avoid buying one and snooping on the serial port to see what it does, just to find the PIDs for the data I want.

If anyone knows how to get additional diagnostic information (like misfires for individual cylinders, knock retard, or anythign else), or could tell me where to look to find information, I'd appreciate it.

If anyone wants a Linux command-line OBD-2 diagnostic reader, mine seems to work fine for the basic OBD-2 data set, on my Sharp Zaurus, connected to my 99 Corvette. You can grab the source code here: http://home.attbi.com/~miles-gazic/obd2.c

My GUI version uses picoGUI (www.picogui.org), and probably won't be too useful to anyone, but I'll give that to anyone who wants it as soon as it's complete. You can use my command line program with your own GUI of choice pretty easily, there's a nice example of using CLI programs in a GUI here:

    Thanks again,
    Miles

Re: extended OBD2 data for LS1

I am also looking for GM Extended Parameters (PIDs) related to the transmission.

    Can anyone help?
