I have 99 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban with built 7.4L on dyno 430HP & 530 torque this is with 750 Holley & 2" dyno headers Most of the guys here say it will go up a good with the Vortec intake & Hooker truck force headers & 30 to 32 lbs injector The 530 torque is in by 3800RPM & the HP is at 4750rpm should work very well in 4.10 geared Suburban My Engine builder of 47 years experience say in should be in the 450 HP & more then likely 550 to 560 for torque My BIG ? is this MPVI tuner software work on my stock 99 Suburban computor would like to hear from guys in similar situation as what they did to tune their trucks
Hi
Jim here , 1996 s10 wynjammer 10-12 ps1 have software but havent tried tuning yet as it looks like i need to switch to a 411 pcm instead of the black box , i was told the black box was unsupported by hp tuners . does anyone have a base os for this setup ?
Thanks
Jim
Me and a friend started tunning and well our area is mostly trucks.. Started testing out with a 08 silverado extended cab short bed with 323 gears and a 4.8 catless only .. yes i know its slow... went and ran it with stock tune catless hit a 17.6 .. then we put the tuned file back.. went 16.9 ... im satisfied for being first tune... yesterday we started with a friends truck 98 obs extended cab with a 09 5.3 swap.. 220/224 cam built trans 4l60e and 456 gears... was tuned before but really safe because tranny was slipping before.. now feels way better without Tq management 0 out and higher shift points.. ect..
wanting to tune my 08 tahoe for fuel mileage... 30k original mileage and only sees very nice days or family trips. Sometimes pulls my 26' enclosed with my car in it.....
just wanting to deal with torque management and also up the fuel mileage when loaded.....
where should I start?? In the repository of tunes and just glance over something or start from scratch??
Thanks
Please someone correct me if im wrong , delete t/q in engine and trans and try bumping the timing up a degree or two and see what that does
Regards
JIm
I wouldnt say you are wrong, but I wouldnt do all that.
A bigger help is just reducing the amount of tq mngt in both the engine and trans. Getting rid of it all might just cause more problems. You can make it feel way better and drive better by just messing with some simple trans settings like slightly quicker shifts and adjusting the shift speeds to your liking.
Seems that in the 11+ trucks, you could add 4ish degrees of timing in various places without an issue and to keep it safe for just general driving and I've added 2-3 degrees to the DoD table without any issues aswell, but not all vehicles react the same. I still think you won't see much gain in mpg while loaded.

2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.
If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.
thanks for your input 5fdp

Personal opinion, I don't think I would rush to turn off torque management, especially if I was towing with a 4L6xE. you won't gain mpg and you will lose trans life. 4L6xE's aren't the best for long life, not the worst, but not the best. I would take good care of it.
Just saying.....
Datalog under load with the big trailer. Make sure you aren't hitting PE while towing, Tune to ensure no KR while towing. (shoot for worst case conditions and make a safe tune for it) Watch the high load/low rpm range, pretty sensitive there.
