I do not know where the stupid questions belong

Do you need credits from the same vehicle to use the diagnostic side of the program. We did the credits for the write to get used to using this tool, but when I try to use the diagnositc side it shows no codes and can run no tests.

Probably better to post in the section for your particular vehicle although it is probably the same for all vehicles. You can scan/data log without credits which should include codes. I'm not sure what you mean by tests, but not all vehicles have special functions available.

The operating system tab does not open for anything. We are trying to diagnose the air suspension issues. Is this something that this is capable of doing? In the editor, I click on the os tab and nothing ever shows.

When I am in the scanner, I know there are codes because the check engine light is on, when I scroll to where it is supposed to tell me what the codes are causing the check engine light to go on, nothing is ever shown. Even a basic scan tool is going to spit out the codes. What have I not set up correctly?

First thing is, what year/make/model are we talking about? Need to start there. Tune file and data log would help also.

The scanner does not show trouble codes without clicking on the DTC button, then "read codes". The functional tests button is the one to the right of the DTC button.

Still no vehicle type named. But HPT wouldn't typically have anything to do with air suspension since that is typically a chassis module or BCM. HPT cam be a little particular on reading codes from the ECM, it can take a drive cycle for them to register vs just acting as a straight code reader with the car just key on. And sometimes the ECM is triggered by other modules.

You need a true diagnostic scanner, not tuning software. Wrong tool for the job.

The OS tab is for custom operating systems. It's not going to show you what operating system the vehicle has. That is going to be under "Edit/calibration details/controllers"

PS, HPtuners won't cover anything suspension related.

Thanks, my first case is a 2007 Jeep Cherokee with the 5.7 we did the eagle head swap on. I then won a 2011 Jeep Cherokee 5.7 at an auction when I was giving up on the 07 and wanted to experience the drivetrain work correctly. I use the term won loosely, 81K miles, great body, open the door to mold, the battery and module under seat compartments half filled with water.

Since I cannot see any DTC with the 2007, I thought I would see what I am missing. The screen pops open, one tab says DTC the other says freeze frames, neither has any information. I click connect to vehicle, I click scan vehicle, never seen one DTC code on that screen. I end up plugging in the Ethos and work from that.

Now I am trying to figure out if I need another license for each car since the credits show for an 05-21 Jeep Cherokee.

I did post in the area for the jeeps and no responses. So thanks again.

HPt does not work as well on dodge products as it does GM. so that may be part of your problem. The OS tab isn't going to show you anything.

The licenses will only be for one vehicle. You can use the scanner on any vehicle without licensing. The only time licensing comes into play is when you want to flash a vehicle. Otherwise you can read, view, and scan any vehicle HPt covers without licensing.

thanks, mainly bought it to help with the LS swaps we are planning on, just figured we might be able to get accustomed to using it while we are getting to them.
