Hey, my name is Todd from Montana and I've built and tuned several Megasquirt ecm/cars over the past 20 years or so. This will be my first foray into tuning a stock ecm. I'm hoping to add a little boost to my old 97 Dodge 5.9 gasser. A lot more research ahead of me!

Hi everyone, my name is Dave and my wife and I live near Albany NY.
I grew up wrenching on small engines, and I work as a refrigeration mechanic with a focus on supermarkets. E2 controllers and rack refrigeration controls made me think, maybe I can learn how to tune. Down the rabbit hole we go.
I am here to soak up all the information I can, and grateful for the community of like minded people that are here.

Hello from Indiana. The name is Scott. i am a gear head at heart but my skills have stopped at wrenches. I am brand new to tuning. i have put down the timing light and fuel jets from the past builds and picked up the HP Tuners, God help us all!!!. I just got done building a 5.7 Hemi for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I deleted the MDS and added a Comp Cam, Melling HV oil pump, and Hellcat pushrods. everything else is pretty stock and trans is 545RFE with Quadra-drive II. I got it all buttoned up a few days ago and did my first tune. it will now idle for a bit from cold start. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi HPT,
I'm Anthony and I am new to tuning as well but I know my way around the computer pretty well its area i specialized in for day to day work. The reason I want to learn tuning is because I was always interested in learning and I have a modified Camaro SS 1LE but I am doing a intake manifold change and throttle body change and the shop I am going to dont do remote tunes and prefer to have they customers come back to the shop. However in my case I moved from the East to West Coast and going back to their shop is not feasible so I will start this journey of tuning and making it a part time gig out of it. Looking forward to tuning

Greetings....Just joined the Forum. I too am old school.....been building cars for 40 years. My latest build is a 70 Road Runner with complete 2015 Challenger drivetrain, 6 spd , complete rear suspension Entire Dash and all controls - which means I'm using the complete wiring harnesses and both power distribution systems- but NOT using things like ABS, ORS, and a few other things so Ill be looking to using HPTunners to remove some of these things from the Can-bus system/PCM.

Hello, Name is Bryan. I'm an IT professional by trade in Missouri and have always loved cars. I do most all mechanical work on my vehicles, but wanting to learn a little bit more about how the tuning world works. I have a 2017 Mustang GT with a handful of mods and a 2020 Ranger that is currently stock. Would love to be able to do all further work on them myself. I'm here to learn, and not afraid to search!

Fng..
Hey There new to HP got a lot to soak in. So the last time I tuned a car. it was on my first built SB Chevy. Pretty simple really just loosen the Distributer bolt and advance or retard the timing and if you were shit hot you found that one spot. One of those things were " if ya here it ya know". So know 43 years later I latched on to a Hemi. I have a 2013 Ram 4x2 standard cab Lowered 20" Moto's rims, 50,00o miles. Under the hood a Vararam AirGrabber and just installed Long tube headers 1 3/4 primary to a 3" collector, 2 /1/2" costume exhaust with Hi-flow cats 3" mid and a Flowmeter super 44 dumped. Right know I am having some issues with ATR. My DTC codes are telling its lean and it sounds like it. I disabled MDS and moved my shift points a little. I understand how everything works from the lower end to the intake. Above that it requires math. I'm quick with putting 2 & 2 together but through in a word like stoichiometry and I'll hand you a German beer. I need to know were to find some parameters for this 5.7 hemi. I guess more of a insightful look on what you can Push out of a the Stock hemi air and fuel system before you start melting plastic. I am a Chevy small block guy and I have never cracked a hemi before but its just a matter of time. This is a project build not a daily so through out concerns about causing any irreversible damage. I have a stroker build in mind. Anyway any and all insights, knowledge and points in the right direction are much appreciated. one more thing if your a tuner and want to research some tunning aspects on a 2013 3rd gen 5.7 Hemi. let me know.

Finally use mpvi2 after 2 years in the box.
Used it to try and understand why there seems to be “shift flare” in 3-4 4-5 5-6 up shifts.
My butt-o-meter feels like the converter unlocking before the shift, which then “feel” good/firm
But on the lock up it seems slow to lock. Kinda drags down and then hooks.
But was generally lost with all the pids going, and being 100% new to the software.
Saw desired slip and actual slip and there’s about 40-120 rpm difference after lock up is commanded.
Desired pressure and actual were lining up within 1psi
Decided to change some fluid to see if it helps.
5.4 qts added after pan drop.
Used vcm again to verify fluid temp, for correlation to fluid level chart.
Still sloppy lock/unlock of TC. Probably gonna just drive it and keep an eye on fluid. Buuuuut if there’s another van nerd that happens to be reading this hit me up ill buy you a beer
Didn’t want to be yet another newbie posting a new thread begging for help before I put the time in with the search button.
So I posted it here to the oblivion of introduction thread.
Hope you are having a great day/night and look forward to hearing from you even to just say hello.
Thanks for reading this far.

Hello everyone, Nick here... I have a 97 k2500 suburban with the 7.4l engine. I am really new to the whole tuning world and hoping to learn more. As this truck is not a daily driver and more like a weekend cruiser, I figured this would be a good project to start with. I have not done much after the 04111 swap, just the K&N CAI, and replaced the injectors and fuel pressure regulator to try and eliminate the hard start. Which it did. Now just want to smooth out the tune and get my truck running as it should.

Hi Y'all,
Gen X gearhead here who's done a good bit of old-school tuning (carbs, distributors, automatic transmission governors & shift kits & internal mods) and am now going to be doing some minor tuning on my stock '13 Chevrolet Tahoe for reliability and driveability improvements.
The archives have already been a great help with understanding how to use the HP Tuner software and settings, and I've got a few questions brewing!
Regards,
Scrappy

Hello my name is mikhail and Ive been working on vehicles my whole life. Ive been running a family repair establishment since 2005. when i had bad vehicle accident in 2018, i started dabbling in the more technical aspects of vehicle repair(oem software electrical diagnosis) and have slowly been dipping my toes into playing around with the performance aspect of the mechanic trade so i can still be of help to my father who refuses to retire.
Recently i put together a 2350b 2013 Cummins engine with studded heads 30 over injectors 30 over turbo 30 over intake. Im hoping by involving myself in forums so i can find a good tuner to help walk me through adding more power to this engine I put a years worth of savings in

Hi guys and gals sorry to break the news. I am as new as you can get. But I am willing to learn. I am retired and live up here in the northeast. Ri do be exact. I did my first rebuild on an engine I pulled from a junkyard with some help from other forums. I put that engine a LQ9 in a 2003 S10 in my driveway. I had a friend of a friend do I start up file and some base tuning to get to run. Unfortunately he is very hard to pin down . Which brought me here to learn how to tune yes even at age 61. I look forward to all and any help through this journey

Name is Hoss,
I have a 2004 GMC Sierra SLT 8.1 4x4 Crew Cab with Allison.
I bought "Miss Thirsty" about 7 Years ago as an old work horse for 3k.
I have been rebuilding her from the ground up since.
I purchased a brand new high performance Complete Long Block from Larry @ Raylar Engineering.
My whipple super charger from Larry is in route.
I have spent about 3 k in Tuners who say they are pro's with The Big Block Vortec 8100.
Not a one of them has had Larry's motor run at it's full potential yet.
Another one blew up my Allision Trans and blamed it on poor maintenance when I had it checked out right after at a Trans shop , they said someone had changed parameters and caused the other wise bulletproof Trans to fail.
Hence , why I am beginning The HpTuners journey to learn from you all. I have realized no one is going to care for my truck like I do.
So my mouth is shut and my ears are open.
Blower should show up in the next few weeks . I plan on taking my baby to the gm dealer and returning all values back to oem. Getting her home installing blower and all gauges and components. Then I will be hanging out here and any other HP Tuner courses I can find to hopefully get my rig running at her full potential safely.
Talk to you all soon!
Hoss

Better late than never, but I have been lurking and reading here for a bit when I have the time. I am also brand a$$ new to tuning with HP tuners. I am a good mechanic but that's not my job or what pays the bills. Its just what gives me peace when I'm not swearing pissed or frustrated with Midwest rusted bolts or the mystery bolt still hanging on somewhere.
Oh yea, my name is Ryan. I am currently playing with and building a 2000 Camaro Z28 6M. Very basic build right now just long tubes, LS6 intake and a bunch of suspension/brake parts for now.
Im using this car to learn the software while doing MAF then SD tuning. Once I am comfortable with tuning on a stock/bolt on motor I will be adding heads, cam and fuel injectors. Ultimately I would want to add some boost but I will more likely than not sell the Camaro and then start all over on a 99-02 Trans Am. (love those looks)
Thank you for the knowledge in advance. You have already helped a lot just by letting me read.
Cheers!
