Hello all. I just bought the pro suite for my 99 Silverado. Currently, just a few basic bolt-ons, but I have a cam, converter, headers, and a lot more goodies sitting around waiting for me to install. I am currently at school away from my truck, which is why nothing has been installed yet.

There are no dynos, and no tuners in Alaska, so I have decided to learn to tune it all myself. I'm close to graduating, so I will have some free time to learn how to tune.

I tend to do a lot of lurking and searching, so I may not post a lot. But, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate all the threads.

Talking Look out here I come...

    Hello...

I already started a new thread in the lounge but I guess I will go ahead and introduce myself in the correct thread.

As I said in my thread I am an experienced mechanic...just not with EFI so much. I have been learning more and more over the past several years. I would like to start getting more in depth with this stuff.

I'm a Staff Seargent in the Army. I'm a maintenance supervisor. So I pretty much live and breath wrenches.

I'm looking forward to watching and learning. I'll probably be trying to pick some brains so be ready...I can ask alot of questions...not all of them will be intelligent I bet.

    Thanks,
    Phil

Greetings! New to the tuner world. Have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche with a few mods. Going to look around here and learn what I can. Bought the HP Tuner software a few months ago and haven't been digging too deep, yet. Only logged a few runs just to play around with it. Now that I have upgraded the transmission, its time to play.

    Hey everybody.

Name is Aron. I'm 16 and just getting into tuning with my older brother. I bought HPTuners as a x-mas gift for myself and my brother. We both have a project 99 RCSB 5.3 Silverado and its being tuned by us. With a little help from Nelson Performance and the many fourms out. I'd just like to say whats up?

It sucks you're in the north. Us young tuners need to hang out and blow stuff up.

I agree, no one really tunes up here(Anchorage, Alaska). So I'm learning and hopefully by the end of 07 I 'll have my own truck to tune.

Hi , I'm into just about anything electronic and mechanical. I'm currently a freelance audio tech. and trying to start my own race shop. The techin' pays the bills right now. I've built Pro MX/FMX suspension(10yrs) and tinkered with FileMaker databases(4yrs). I've had plenty of small blocks an am very interested in the programing side. I figured I'd check this out. Looking forward to meeting all of you!
    BTW-- My name is Dory

    Hello all,

I'm a former Air Force C-17 tech, 10 year Corvette technician and parts manager at a local Corvette specialist shop. Now an electronics technician for a defense contractor supporting the Marines and working on finishing my BS in Electronics. I have been doing tuning part time for two years now for previous Corvette shop as well as other area street machines. Glad to be here and hope I can help!

Im new to HPtuners, actually I haven't even received mine yet.
Been a truck guy all my life and I spend quite a bit of time working with computers at work so I figured I would try my hand at this.
I will be tuning (to start) my 05 ccsb Sierra (5.3L, Magnaflow exhaust, K&N CAI, 3.73 gears)
05 eclb Siverado work truck (stock 8.1L), and my brothers special edition
04 rcsb Sierra (4.8L, headers, cat back, CAI, BIG Baer brakes).
Open to any beginners advice and/or tunes to learn from.

    Hey all.

Name's Chris, also. I've been building muscle cars for 20 years, and playing with tuner cars for about 5 of those, somewhere in the middle. Played with turbos and nitrous, but now have a new TBSS and want to get into the VCM pro tech and start learning how to tune with the big boys. I have a couple of 11 sec. muscle cars, but want an 11 second TB, also.

1 is never enough, but 3 may be 2 expensive!!

I'll watch and learn, and give input where I can be of help, and shut up where I can't.

Thanks guys, for the forum. Great medium for guys like me.

Hope to be in touch with some of you soon.

    Chris

    Hello Everyone!

It is clear that there is a wealth of experience on this board and I am extremely excited to be a part of it! I’d like to introduce myself.

My name is Jay Payson and I have accepted a sales position with HP Tuners!

I have been interested in cars since I can remember. My first car was a 1976 Camaro with a 350, Muncie 4 speed, and 12 bolt with 4.11. It was pretty healthy, and was an incredible learning experience! My next car was a 1970 Chevelle with a Big block, powerglide, 12 bolt etc. I now have an 85 RX7, a Harley, and a 67 Camaro that I am installing an LS6 and T56.

During my last couple years of high school, I was turning a wrench at a Sunoco station on Route 1 in Norwalk, CT. After five years of working in the Sunoco station, I decided to go back to school. I also started working at a Buick/GMC dealership in Stamford, CT. After earning a two year degree in Automotive, I went on to a four year school, and taught part-time at the General Motors Training Center in Tarrytown, NY, as well as at a Community College teaching IM-240 for the state of Connecticut.

My next job required me to figure out how to break stuff (design and production validation) determine why it failed, then suggest how to make it better. This job was at the Echlin Automotive Test Center, in Hamden, CT. At the Time Echlin owned Mr. Gasket, Hurst, Accel/DFI, Mallory, Raybestos, Hays, Hamburger Oil Pans, Lakewood, etc. When Dana Corporation purchased Echlin and closed down the test center, I transferred to Accel/DFI, in Wixom Michigan.

After I had my fill of dirty snow in Detroit, I moved to Florida, and accepted a Calibrator position at Superchips where my job was to tune Ford cars and trucks. I tuned for some very well respected shops including: Paul’s High Performance, Maryland Performance, Springfield Motorsports, J&M Corvettes, Jannetty Racing, Dave’s High Performance, FPS, Anderson Motorsports, Downs Ford, McNews, Reinhart, Johnny Lightning, JDM, Steeda, Vortech, Paxton, and others. What an incredible experience! Most of that tuning was performed with a DOS driven HEX editor that had some pretty incredible limitations. Eventually, I moved my way into management which has taken me away from cars. I suppose the break from the daily grind was nice, but now I am excited to be in a position where I should be able to get my hands dirty again!

That’s enough about my past (it was fun to put it to words though). With my new job here at HP Tuners, I need to focus on the future and what we can do you for you, our customers!

The HP Tuners Team is committed to improving customer service, and has incredible plans to do so. Given some time, I hope that we build the best sales and customer service team in the industry!

My immediate job at HP Tuners is to assist individuals with any questions they have regarding the HP Tuners product line, build a sales infrastructure, and sign on responsible dealers to sell and support the product line.

As it is understood by HP Tuners that we are in business because of you, our customers, I look forward to reading and hearing about your feedback, both good and bad. Please realize that I am certain to have a full mailbox and I may take some time to reply to emails or PMs because of this. But, I will read each email, and prioritize issues, then act on them, so please don’t be discouraged if you do not receive a reply as quickly as you would hope. This will be a process, that once complete will allow HP Tuners to exceed your expectations.

I look forward to hearing your ideas, questions, and concerns. So please don’t hesitate to contact me via email or PM if you have a question, idea, or concern.

Thanks to HP Tuners for the opportunity,

    Jay Payson
