I would look at an 0411 swap instead of a 98-00 Black Box. But the Black Box swap from 97 to 98-00 is quite simple if you have the wiring pinouts for it.

Get the latest from Lex, he has had some updates fixing some minor errors. Unless pretty recent.

My buddy is in the middle of installing a 2000 chevy 7.4 vortec into a 1990 chevy 1500. , Origonally when he removed the 7.4 he cut and marked each wire so he could reconnect after installed, unfortunately all his markers got wet and are unreadable now. does anyone have the pinout for this? The ecm number is 16263494 and the 2000 truck did have C6P option. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this poor guy is at the end of his rope and truly needs help. I thank you in advance for any and all help.

    1997 Vortec Ecu upgrade/swap help!

I have a 97' Vortec 5.7 in my 86' k10. It has the stock computer with a tune for his set up. It came from a friends show truck who upgraded to a 6.0 lq9. He had a supercharger on this engine which i didn't buy. I've ran the truck a few hundred miles but i need some tuning done because his gear and tire set up was different than mine. He had 38" tires with 4.88 gears and the Whipple blower. I have 4.10 gears and 39.5" tires and don't have the blower. The rev limiter is non existent and the truck will not shift out at wot. I cant find anyone around here to tune it because of the year. I would like to do a tune where the person actually drives the truck. What other options do I have such as computer/upgrades?

    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Jeff

If nobody around you has software to tune those vehicles, the cheapest option is to buy Jet Dst and tune it yourself.

Jet is not the best and customer support is garbage, but it is the cheapest option for end user.

I did the 0411 swap on my 97 Express van a few weeks back and got around to dialing it in recently with a custom grind comp cam on a 110* LSA in the L31. It has some torque now.

I think it is a hardware limitation on the interface for any 256k (96-97 LT1/96-97 Vortec) PCM/VCM's.

If you want the easy fix, do a 98-00 VCM swap (minor pinout change) or go all out for a 0411 swap. I highly recommend the 0411 swap. You will not be disappointed.

I am new to the forum and HP tuners. I have a 95 C3500 2wd with 4L80E and a 96 Vortec 7.4L engine and PCM. I have the pin outs and am waiting for parts from to complete the PC 0411 swap. I have a 0411 from an express van with 5.7L. Where would I find a base file for this truck. This truck I am working on has a set of Ford Racing 24lb fuel injectors in it. Thanx from a newb.

You have a truck not a van. You need a C3500 2wd 454 calibration for a 0411. You can use a base 5.7L C3500 OE 0411 calibration. Yes they made them.
I have converted 4 of these for 454's. Email me and I can send you a starter file
