While attempting to help a customer with his tune today, I kept receiving "timed out" error messages half way through the VCM read. I asked if this truck was equipped with a downloader tune, and the customer said it could be, but not sure I just bought it this way. My question is if he purchased this truck and a tune was still in there from the previous owner, is the error message I'm getting normal, as I assume it would be locked? thanks!
Try pulling the radio fuse,IPC/DIC fuse and onstar if equipped
if it is locked it will fail
what year is the truck? you mite have to disable high speed writeing.
Yeah if its 01-05 you'll probably need to disable high speed reading.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

The truck was a 2003, so disabling the high speed worked. Thanks for the help!
