    Tuning guide

I know there have been a lot of members asking for help on guides or have been using some old guides which have some incorrect information.

What are some things you all are looking for? If I have some time, I would like to revise some of these how tos. It would be quite simple for a high level overview on "disable this, log this, change this".

    *Wish List*
    -Tuning "order"
-Troubleshooting, If this happens, then this is why
-Best practices for wideband tuning and setup
    -Idle tuning tips
    -Effective area calibration procedure

There are one or two guides online but they seem to be all over the place when it comes to tuning. I know there is a process/order involved. If someone could put together an updated guide I think it should include the following:

Tuning "order"......IFR table, idle, VE, Timing, WOT PE, etc....
Then in each category a basic overview of what should be changed and maybe some "If/Then" examples....like in idle tuning if the car surges, try reducing X.
Once the order and basics are established, newbies should be able to search or ask questions about more specific topics that might be answered on forums like this.

    Does this help?

Yeah. That may get a little too deep to do quickly, but a list of orders will be good to add.

I think a consolidation of all the great info out there would be helpful.

    - "Best Practices" on setting up a Wideband for tuning, figuring ground offsets, calibrating, integrating with HPT Pro etc.

    - Idle tuning tips...RAF, Throttle follower/Cracker, IFR calculation, etc.

    - Tuning examples

What I am looking at is a basic setup of the tune/scanner for tuning. I have seen too many people do scary things, I would hate to see someone blow something up lol The help file covers most of the WB stuff very well.

I will add that to the wish list. Can't say I will get around to going that deep, but if someone has time on their hands, I can add it. I do have several posts out there explaining that though.

True but I read that site in/out (3) times and realized myself that I am no engineer, lawyer, or gynocologist to figure out WTF all that meant! WS6.... is speaking in NOOB termanology. The only other alternative is a few outdated manuals we all passed around in the beginning.

Hey WS6... I have several saved files from all over the net of tuning manuals like the one your trying to make. They may be old but atleast will give a template for you to start with. If anything you can go in line for line and just update it so its corrected. If you think they will help you out, PM me your email.

I am starting new, it is much easier than fixed mistakes in another process.

Some very simple MAF setup info would be helpful. My car is running great after reseting Fuel trims and tuning for 3 drives. Once I re-enable the MAF and my Power Enrich table, it's awful. I run the NX MAF kit on my 02 T/A, so all my MAF figures are at the stock settings. Any BASIC, newly revised info is great!

Somehow I think there should be some basic info on normal operating sensor readings.

How to log and what to look for when tuning a automatic tranny would be helpful. Something along the lines of crisper shifts, something to answer the questions like why are my shifts hard? not shifting where commanded?, upshift vs. downshift, etc.

I am not going to go in that deep to it. Just a basic overview on what to setup in the tune/scanner to correctly log.
