2bar 4.3l?

can i get 2 oe 3 bar map on a 2000 silverado with 4.3l? i really really need it. i'm working on a set up that will be running 15+ pounds of boost at track but 10 on the streets. i don't want to have to retune between the two. it will be runing marine intake, mpt-70 turbo, with a modded set of syclone manifolds. heads have been ported and polished along with a 5 angle valve job, comp cam, SBC blower pistons and eagle 4.3l H beam rods. i think that about completes the list. should be a fun build.

2 or 3 bar will make it even better though.

There are no custom operating systems available for the older vortec pcm's, flashing in a different OS won't help you in this case since none of them have custom operating systems.

so can i swap the pcm? i downloaded a few tunes off the hpt tune site and they had 2bar ability. one was a van i think another was an s-10. would one of these plug in?

I doubt they would be a simple plug & play pcm into yours.

hhmmm, so how can i find out some options. he is looking for 500-550 hp here so i don't think maf is gonna cut it.

You'll have to swap in a 2001+ computer to get the tuning availability. I think that's your best bet using HPTuners. I use the 2bar OS on my 01 4.3L

I know I'm talking with you on the Sy/Ty board as well.

We still run the 98 ECM in ours. I just set the power enrichment to where I get 11.4AFR at WOT and I'm done. Everything else is 14.7-1 when driving.

It'd sure be nice to have the 2-3bar ability but I've had no issues getting it to have the AFR I want on the wideband with the stock system.

I can send you over my files and you can start with just my Power enrich and see what happens at low boost first. Should be shooting for 11.7-11.0AFR.

If you don't have a wideband.. get one before putting any boost to it.

We are at 10-11psi now with no knock. I had it turned up once so I know it'll go above 15psi with no problems. Just don't need that much power at this point as it's a driver not a racer in our house. That's what we have the Camaro and Typhoon for.

here is a log. the map doesn't move with throttle and maf its a little bit delayed and i wonder if it has a leak or something causeing the problem. where the timing is really high i was demanding ti to see if maybe the distributer was retarded. didn't seem so.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't check back here often. I'm 99% sure it is not a plug and play but I haven't done it myself. My best guess would be that you'd just have to splice a bunch of wires into the new harness for the LS1-style computer.

I've made the conversion from a 97 engine to be controlled by an 01 PCM. Really not hard to do. Easiest way to do it is to swap the whole harness, if possible. I don't know about a Silverado, but on the 97, there wasn't a separate engine and chassis harness, just one big one.

I can send you the PCM pinouts for a 00 and an 01 PCM. To adapt your old harness, you'll need a pair of connectors (lemme know if you need the part #s, but I did see a set for sale over on s10planet.com), then use the pinouts from the 00 to determine what each wire is. With that info, find the location on the new PCM and rebuild your harness accordingly. I know the 00 and the 01s use a few different sensors, namely the knock sensor, so you may have to rebuild that circuit with a new connector and new sensor.
