    downshift range

    Ok, so let me start by saying that I have a 1996 3800 camaro. I am beginning to do transmission tunning, and I am wondering what the safe maximum range should be, between you upshift and downshift points... This is what I have so far:
    Labels Speed
    1 -> 2 Shift 52
    2 -> 3 Shift 96
    3 -> 4 Shift 141
    2 -> 1 Shift 44
    3 -> 2 Shift 90
    4 -> 3 Shift 138

    I want my car to downshift at WOT sooner...Now, I have 3.90 gears in the car, and the car is upshifting at about 5700rpm which is in actuallity around 57km/h....is it safe for me to put my 2>1 downshift speed to 50-53 km/h...I want to have my car downshift to the lowest possible gear whenever it can when I floor it...I am hoping this will get rid of flat spots and squeeze out the most power...

    So I guess my question really is, what can the range be between your upshift and downshifts? I dont want to break anything, but I want it to downshift to the lowest gear as much as I can...

    Also, if say I put my 2>1 downshift to 55km/h and the 1>2 upshift to 57km/h....would that do any harm? am I risking the transmission not having enough time to shift...or is that a different table?

    Hope that made sense, lol...thanks for the help in advance...

    the upshifts and downshifts should be very seperate events , but in your example I think it would downshift and only stay in the gear for 2 miles an hour before initiating the upshift - you used an an extreme example maybe ?

    Yea...thats what I want it to do...would that cause harm to the transmission?

    Like example this is how I am thinking of setting it:

    1 -> 2 Shift 55
    2 -> 3 Shift 99
    3 -> 4 Shift 147

    2 -> 1 Shift 52
    3 -> 2 Shift 96
    4 -> 3 Shift 144

    Is it harmful to set it like that? Like can I damage the transmission? Will the transmission have enough time to shift if I say punch it at 52km/h and it downshifts for that 3km/h...then upshifts...
