    launching rpm for auto

    quick questionwhen you start off in a automatic i apply the brake than press in the gas than release the brake and she takes off but.. is what sucks is that i can only bring her up to around 1850 rpm, is there any way i can make that go up to like 2500rpm? if there is please let me know cause i think it will help with my launch for quarter mile.

    well i just went back and looked at a couple scans from the track this fall and I was able to hold at 2600-2700 against the brake

    i cant think of what would keep you from going that high since the brakes are stopping the front tires from turning and i am on a stock convertor ?

    here is one of my track scans look at the rpm's while still at 0mph before the 3 gears worth of wot

    im not sure eather but that is where my car sits is 1850 i really need to find out y or if its a setting for the tranny or what

    Sorry, I dont have any experience with the firebird v6, but I know the 8 degrees of knock retard your getting is definitely not good.

    wow that is a weird scan !

    you arent even moving but are at 100%tps and cant go over 1,8xx rpm and seeing a crapload of kr sitting still

    so obviously the car wont spin the tires holding up on the brake ??

    no it wont she just sits there... then when i take off it like goes but lugs than out of no where she rockets off... cant figure it out

    That is the stall speed of the converter. Stock V6 Camaro/ Firebirds will only stall 1800 to 2000 RPM. The fix is to buy a aftermarket stall converter. It is not a setting in the PCM. The knock retard is because your sitting still at 100% throttle. Your knock retard should go away if you back off the throttle once the RPM hits the 1850 or so, then mash the gas the rest of the way when you leave.
