After reading the FAQs, there's doesn't seem to be alot of difference
between the two other than the pro version allows you to plug in
additional controllers, like what is needed to run wide band O2 sensors.

    Does this sum it?

    That & standalone datalogging.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

So, what does standalone datalogging do exactly?

Is that what is needed to compare performance against adjustments made?

And, is there any dataloggin at all with the standard version?

datalogging is taking scan data from the pcm ie what rpm you are at, what mph you are at, etc. and putting them in a viewable tool.

standalone meaning you can do something without the need of a laptop, in this case datalogging without the need of a laptop.

The std. version does datalog but you need a laptop in the vehicle to do so.

OK, no problem since I'm going to be loading this on my laptop.

I'm thinking I may go ahead and get the standard version for
now since I really don't need wideband O2 sensors. I'm not
into racing or anything. I just want to tune for the best
    drivability and efficiency

I just want to adjust my timing, idle speed, tranny shifting,
and I need to disable my Theft Deterrent System due to
    it not working right.

The money that would would take to fix that is about what
it costs to buy HP Tuner software and disable it.

To tune for driveability and efficiency, it would be best to use a wideband setup. I would suggest the pro version.

I have the standard and wish I would've gotten the pro. It also cost a bit more to upgrade to the pro later if you want to (around $300).

Well, I can always upgrade later if I decide to get into that.

I just need to learn the basics right now

The basics in tuning include tuning with a wideband. That is step one. If you ever want to have WOT fueling right (or any PE/OL fueling) you will need to get a wideband. Too many people order the software and try to work around something that you can't. Save the time, headache, and money down the road by ordering the Pro version now. Having WB data in a log is priceless.

I think Frost (member on here) sells them at a great price. Check his site.
