    07 s197 open loop o2 issue?

    Hello

Helping a friend with his car its a 2007 s197. The car as bbk long tubes , comp stage 2 cams , c&n 95mm racer intake and maf, and exhaust. no cats.

I got the maf dialed in just right when its in closed loop we are looking at +/- 2% . Now here is the issue. When we first turn on the car the o2s are very very slow to respond. They drop in and out basically. For a while they work perfectly then they stop responding. But once you drive the car runs fine and the o2s work fine. I have made sure to disable all the rear o2 codes and tests. Both front o2s are in new just replaced. But at idle it will throw a fail code and basically drop out and the stft will scew way off.. Then after a bit it will kick back on and work fine. I am guessing its an issue with the heaters because the o2s are so much further downstream.. I really don't know what the proper table to change to enable them earlier or increase the voltage at idle? I was messing with the transport delay but I wasn't real sure what to do considering this is a non issue with GM cars.

Thanks in advance for any advice

    Rob

I have almost no experience tuning Fords with HP, just tried it a little in my personal car, I have mid lengths so I don't have that same need as you do because my O2s aren't that far downstream, checked and did not found any table were you could play with heater duty cycle (at least in my FPAF)

You can try delaying when it will go into CL via de CL delay time vs ECT table, I don't know what kind of climate you leave in, we don't see anything lower than 70 so it depends to you what ECT's to mod, get the values up to about a minute, that should give enough time for the O2s to warm a little more via exhaust temp.

You should report the inexistance of this table to support, that would really help you and others too.

Thanks for that info. we live in corpus christi tx which is normally VERY hot. So this may be a non issue when the weather warms up but for right now its a pain. I spoke with support and they are going to make the engineer's aware of the missing table. Hopefully we will have something to work with soon. I also noticed a table where I can make the car enter closed loop with a lesser o2 temp its set to 500 by default but I dont think they would read stoich very accurately below 500 so I really didnt bump it down..
    Thanks again

When I talked about ambient temps was referring to the parts of the table you should touch, remember is ECT that controls the table, (I don't have the notebook with me so I'm speaking out of memory) you could try getting all the low 15s secs to 60's and I think there is a 37 to 60's or even a little more. Try that out and let us know how it went.

Even if with an updated beta the heater table comes up it wouldn't hurt having the time delay table with some time added still before getting into CL.

good memory this is the closed loop delay vs startup ECT

    Labels Delay
    -20.00 120.00000
    0.00 80.00000
    20.00 37.00000
    35.00 15.00000
    70.00 15.00000
    100.00 15.00000
    150.00 15.00000

    Here you go

    Labels Delay
    -20.00 120.00000
    0.00 80.00000
    20.00 60.00000
    35.00 60.00000
    70.00 60.00000
    100.00 60.00000
    150.00 60.00000
    200.00 60.00000
    230.00 60.00000

And set the heater duty cycle to 90%.

thanks for the info but no such table on hp tuners.. YET.. the guys are going to take care of it for me.

any updates on a new version that includes the o2 heater duty cycle?

Sorry for nagging just wondered if by chance I get warm these O2s up faster yet? thanks!

Its been a year.. Do I lose hope and tell him to buy SCT?

I guess ford is just on the backburner and I can understand why its not the main target but I was sure hoping I could start telling my customers I can take care of these issues with what I already have..

We had a few issues finding these tables which is the reason its taken so long...I got an email from our head engineer yesterday about this though and our ford engineer should start working on adding these tables over the next few weeks.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
