    Firmware update question

Not up to speed with all the lingo, so I'll have to use
    general descriptions for this question...

When I connected to my truck today for the first time,
I had the the USB plugged into the little box that fits
between your computer and the OBDII connector and
then to my laptop as well as to my truck.

And, I turned on the key to my truck...and then read
the instruction on the screen that said "don't connect
    to OBDII yet"

Apparently, the software was updating the firmware
for this little box thingy (what is this called again?)

So, is this going to hurt anything?

When I realized what I had done I waited until the
firmware update was done...then turned off the
key, then I connected again and was able to read
    my entire VCM

Pretty normal. BTW its just called an interface or MPVI interface.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

OK, so having the interface plugged into the truck with the key on
when the software is saying not to (due to the firmware update
that is in progress) doesn't hurt anything?

It shouldn't hurt anything, I'm pretty sure the worst it would do is just disrupt the firmware update.

    OK, sounds good.
Just wanted to make sure I'm good to go.

I've already made my first change and I'm about to go
out to the truck now and write and so far things are
    running smoothly with the software.

So with a MPVI firmware update you dont have to be connected to the internet for that to get the newest firmware?
