    Thanks. I installed an isolation transformer after the pure sinusoidal inverter. It's all good. No ground loops.

    i never ever hook the laptop to anythign but the wall when doing a tune EVER>. secondly use the batter plenty of life to write a tune if its charged
    never use and inverter... they WILL fail at the most inopportune time see Ed above
    for you bench tuners get and isolation tranformer.. do not let your Laptop and pcm power supply get hung on same circuit.

    ask me how i know ? 35 yrs of testing audio electronics (pro, home and mobile) no sense in ever taking a chance some random ground loop is gonna fry your pcm or
    corrupt some random bit in the data stream that fupps up eveything..

    Is it safe to just disable auto start stop on my wife?s explorer ST and write or is there a better way just don?t want to hurt anything

    I have a Renogy 3000w pure sine wave inverter that I use when data logging for many hours at a time and have never had an issue. I data logged an entire 580-mile road trip last weekend.

    You are correct, full battery only when writing.
