Exclamation 64 bit vista guys that have gotten the drivers to work come in!

I'm trying to create a sticky for those who have a 64 bit version of vista that are having problems installing the drivers.

Please let me know step by step of what worked for you.

Some of linked to this exe file http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM%202.04.06.exe and it seems to work for most but I would like a step by step of what you needed to do to get it to work correctly so transitiion is as easy as possible ie

    1. run exe file found here http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM%202.04.06.exe
    2. download drivers found here http://www.hptuners.com/pub/HPT_MPVI_Drivers.zip
    3. extract drivers to desktop
    4. connect interface to pc
    5. install drivers
    6. done. at this point everything should work flawlessly

from the sounds of it thats what should happen but seeing I don't have vista 64 I really need to confirm.

Secondly the F8 disable is it just this simple?

    1. Turn on pc & hit F8 several times until the advanced boot options menu appears as shown here http://www.hptuners.com/forum/attach...4&d=1190216052
    2. select disable driver signature enforcement
    3. continue to start pc
    4. download drivers found here http://www.hptuners.com/pub/HPT_MPVI_Drivers.zip
    5. extract drivers to desktop
    6. connect interface to pc
    7. install drivers
    8. done. at this point everything should work flawlessly

Thanks guys for all your help...this will definitely help alot of people as these 64 bit operating systems become more & more popular.

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

I still have to do the F8, disable driver signature every time I restart or the drivers wont work.

There are 2 ways to disable digital driver signature enforcement; the 1st way is using command-line tool cmd.exe to execute this command-line bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON , the 2nd method which is recommended is to diable it through Group Policy Object (GPO),

    1. Start --->> Run ---> GPEdit.msc

    2. Enable and Ignore Code signing for drivers policy under User Configuration --->>

Administrative Templates ---->> System ---->> Driver Installation --->> Code signing for drivers

    try that...

Tried both of those, and neither work.

    Yes, didnt work either.

The problem is several updates from microsoft make these attempts ineffective in disabling the mandatory driver signature. It seems the command line command doesnt work after SP1, and the group policy editor doesnt work after some K****** updates.

In trying to get the drivers to work without doing the F8 deal every time, I found out which ones, but cant recall at the moment. It shouldnt be too hard to find with google. We arent the only ones complaining about the mandatory driver signature in vista 64.

somebody just needs to make a driver hacker that allows you to add your own digital signature..or a driver wrapper that puts a signature in on it and allows the unsigned driver to run within the wrap

somebody used to have one that worked for running old windows 98 stuff on xp when it first came out and the drivers didnt exist...I'm sure they could do it for vista

Thanks a lot Bill. I tried it for the hundreth time and it worked!
    One quick question though.
My computer is never off, i always leave it in hibernate mode, so does that mean i dont have to restart the computer and do the that pesky f8 thing anymore?

I'm having trouble with mine and I'm computer stupid. I tried to install it twice, once auto and once manual. I'm going to try the exe file above in a couple of minutes.

Ive tried all of the options and I can not get the driver to work correctly. Lap top showed up yesterday and I think I have already worn out the F8 key.I get nothing from pushing it 100 times.

    Nevermind got it to work.

i spent many hours trying to find a work around for the unsigned driver, but the only option that worked for me was the ftdi drivers.

i think most people overlook the fact that they need to manually uninstall the hp tuners drivers, then install the ftdi drivers, and then connect the interface and manually install the drivers from the desktop.

if anyone needs any help with this i am more than happy lend a hand. Just shoot me a pm
