    dumb question, maybe???

    Hello,

I have a the pro version of HPT for my '01 LS1 F-body. Today I bought an '04 Chevy Duramax is there a way to use what I have with the truck as well? or at least buy just the diesel program or software to be able to use it.

    Thanks,
    Stuart

The current versions will tune your Duramax Truck. You need to determine if you have the LB7 engine or the LLY engine. This is borrowed from the Diesel Place.

What engine do I have? Check the 8th digit of your VIN number- LB7=1, LLY=2, LBZ=D

There are some tunes in the repository for most of these. It will give you a starting point.

Be careful, it is easy to dump a bunch of fuel and timing and get instant kick in the pants improvement. When doing this people have melted turbos and pistons, burned up trannies. Happy tuning.

Do you have an MPVI interface or an older serial style?
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Disable high speed read, it will take almost half an hour to read the whole system, but it will work

Have not tried this, but found a post that said pulling the radio fuse and the onstar fuse may fix your situation.

Possible battery issue or something inline is breaking communications.
