Just threw this post up here to gather some LS1 info..

seems as 98 has 1 checksum.

99+ has 8:

TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSTIC CALIBRATION
FUEL SYSTEM CALIBRATION
SYSTEM CALIBRATION
SPEEDOMETER CALIBRATION

The 97 vette ls1 is also the same as the 98 vette and f-car. And you are right, the 97-98 only has 1 checksum. You can see that they only have a single calibration by running a vin of those years through the gm VCI website.
