    P0340, CMP sensor circuit malfunction

hey guys just got this code recently in my car. it still feels fine. its an 05 manual with 25k on it. i modified the VCT a bit to make more power. i retarted the cam timing up top. here is the bottom right corner of my VCT angle open vs Load graph.

    7.00 6.61 7.23 8.13 9.00 this is .6 load and starts at the
    7.00 7.58 7.51 10.00 15.00 3750 block for rpm.
    2.50 4.00 5.00 11.5 15.00
    2.50 4.00 5.00 11.5 15.00

obviously i dont wanna mess up the VCT system and am concerned about this code. anyone have experience with this, ignore it? change it back? thanks.

This code can come up for various reasons, from too much of a difference between cams to a typical alternator failure.

Can you datalog cam angle with HPT? so you could see if you are getting what you are commanding.

i dont think i can datalog it. i dont even think there is a PID for it on the scanner. is it still safe to beat on?

You can datalog Cam Angle, Cam Angle error, Cam duty cycle, Cam 2 Angle, Cam 2 Angle error. It's in the PID list:Engine/General.
