From what I can tell it's just a reference table. By increasing the Factor you are simply requesting the TCM to use different values (from other reference tables) at a given TQ and engine speed.

For example in my stock tune the stock Inertia Factor on the 2-3 shift at 3200rpm and 240TQ has a "3". This is then used in the Inertia Factor Adders and TQ Factor Adders to add to the Base Shift time. As a general rule, the higher the Inertia Factor the lower the Inertia Factor Adders for upshifts and the lower the TQ Factor Adders for upshift. All this results in a faster shift speed the higher the Inertia Factor.

As a far as I can tell this is the only affect but happy for someone out there to educate me more and tell me different or fill us in on other things it might do.

It is exactly what it says it is. What is the definition of inertia? This is the interrupt factor between shaft speeds. Combined with the correct numbers in other tables, this will give you the shift kit "banging" of the Hydramatic trannies. The A6 can tuned to shift just like the Good Ole Turbo trannies....

Remember riding in the old muscle cars and hitting 2nd gear? The driveshaft feels like its coming thru the floor? The A6 can shift like that. I have already twisted a yoke off my rear driveshaft, but that is with AWD, 6000lbs, and 24" wheels. When it left the line it wheel hopped and bang! Shouldn't be a problem in a RWD car, or hasn't been that I have heard.

You can enter a 16, but the tables it is refering to only go up to 9 in their axis so going higher than 9 won't do you any good.
