Tuning a 2001 Chevy Duramax Diesel

I am going to attempt to tune my dads Duramax diesel. He needs some decent power for what he pulls(flatbed trailer & backhoe=21,000lbs).My father says when he steps on the gas it doesn't have any power. Can anybody help me get started or lead me in the right direction, just need to get some more power out, thanks.

You can see the changes i have made to the tune. It is nothing drastic but should be a good towing tune.

Hey 03DMax I installed this tune on my 01 duramax and it feels good. About how many horse power increase does this tune give the duramax feels like 60rwhp? Also does it improve the mpg? Or if anyone else wants to give there input. Thank you

would guess it adds maybe 50 at the rear wheels, and yes it should increase mileage

I tried the tow-safe tune from your other post and loved it but it seems to limp my tranny going in to 5th gear is there any way to cut power a little going into 5th? Or do you have a tune in the middle of tow and safetow? Thank you

Wow i am very surprised that will limp your trans, but every trans seems to have a different point at which it limps. Try this one Attachment 20640
