Thread: Can Traction Control come back on by itself?

Can Traction Control come back on by itself?

    Question for you guys.

    Car is an 04GTO, A4 heads & cam & 3,200 Yank.

Everyonce and while after doing a burnout (usually if I exceed about 4,500rpms) - I will line up then hit the gas to go and the car noses over for a split second then takes off.

It has happed with 3 different tunes, by different tuners and is sporadic.

I loose about 3 tenths each time it happens.

Acts just like Traction Control is on. I get no codes though.

The TC is always set to off.

Is it possible that my ABS system is engaging and possibly re-engaging Traction Control?

Happend twice yesterday - unfortunately once is a race round.

Thought that maybe the ABS was freaking out.

debating on pulling the ABS fuse to see if it continues.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Steve

Forgot to put in - If I turn the car off then on agin - no issue - she runs fine.

My 99 Vette does that also. I have TC turned off then go to do a burnout wont do one so I have to turn TC off again then alls fine. Now it has starting coming on after I do a burnout so I have to dry hop it once to make sure its off. It suks and I also have some little box wired in but name of it eludes me right now. Sure would like to have that crap turned off all the time at track.

Yeah - WPIA - lost a 1st round Sunday because of it.

Maybe if I turn it back on then off after a burn out it may help - don't know. Will try it friday at the Etown.

I am going to cut back on the spark retard for traction control significantly to see if that works.

The only other thing I can think of is pulling the ABS fuse - but that sucks if you need the ABS after hitting some liquids on the track. Maybe set up an on/off toggle switch running into the ABS fuse block also.

I am seriously tired of this.

I have never seen it do that, but the right (wrong)
sort of electrical fault could perhaps toggle the logic
that turns it on/off (like if the momentary dashboard
switch lost its power or ground, or the whole system
gets dropped (say, by battery roll and short to fender,
    or a loose ground braid).

If you want it foolproof defeated, pull the connector
at the "gizmo" while you're sitting in the staging line
and key-off, key-on. But you probably want to keep
    chasing the electrical fault angle.

Jimmy as always - thanks for your input.

On the battery side - checked the terminals.

It is a wierd situation - only happens after a certain rpms on the burnout. Otherwise perfect. Yeah - I know keep the rpms down - but if the tires break loose - the only thing I can do is turn it off then on - but that may mean a loss (depending on starter).

I wish I could just hit a button and get back but that is not an option.

I think for friday - I will reduce the spark retard on the TC. If that doesn't work - remove the ABS fuse. If that works then set up an outside fuse setup with an off/on toggle. So I have ABS at the top end.

I am still not sure it isn't MAF related with reversion - but this is too wierd.

You can disable the traction control, but yet the stabilitrack will compensate for the loss of traction control... You must disable both.... However i dont think you can disable Stabilitrack from HP tuners, only from the traction control button in the car(by holding it down for 5 seconds) That is how it works in my truck.. Both have to be disabled or im just screwed... Just an FYI from me

Mine had this same problem but the actual 'TCS' light was coming on and off randomly especially after idling for longer than 15 seconds.

I did a bunch of research and what finally cured it was I changed the 'min kpa to 0' and 'max kpa to 100'

    That solved all my problems.

This occured after my verter and cam install like 4 years ago. lol
