While trying to load file from computer to vehicle.
All goes well UNTIL Preparing VCM ---- FAILED. I have had no problems for over a year with same vehicle. I have rebooted computer, un plugged all cables, etc. and re -tried dozens of times with same message. I have tried to load other recent files with same FAILED results.
Please help. I’m stranded

Re-read the file off the car. This happened to me while working on my friend's 2005 Corvette, and re-reading the file fixed it.

Scanner works fine. Cant load new tune. Can't get past Preparing VCM---- FAILED
Also noticed CABLE STATUS shown at bottom of screen in VCM Editor reads NOT CONNECTED
How would the scanner work with the same cable?

This happens with my CTS-V every once in a while, I disconnect the scanner, go key off for 30 seconds, go key on for 30 seconds and do a write entire, fixes it every time.

This is the first time to have this problem with more than a hundred flash, write calibration only, files. Same vehicle. Done some searches and found where after market radio, alarms, remotes, etc. could present some problems.
I had my remote entry, door lock actuactor switch replaced today.
Could or how would this affect VCM Editor?
