when we write calibration only,is the data that is written based on the change log,or are all of the tunable tables written ? just curious .

You are flashing in the calibration, every change you make seen or unseen in the editor goes in.

On most controllers (ECM's, PCM's, TCM's), the data is split into two segments.

The operating system
The Calibration

If the software gives you the option to perform a write calibration only, then your controller fits the above model.

In that case, if you change 1 parameter or change every parameter in the calibration, the entire calibration is written regardless.

Also, as a reminder, if you are having flash issues/recovery issues while performing a write calibration (which is the write method you should be using 99.9% of the time anyway), do not try doing write entire thinking it may help you recover your controller. It in fact will put you in an even worse state that could render your controller unrecoverable.

Recover write calibration fails only with write calibrations.
Recover write entire fails only with write entires.
