tuning a 5.3 computer for a 6.0 swap also updating software?

I have a 5.3 computer out of a 00 silverado and was just making sure that It could be tuned to a 6.0

also I've been told to update my software and was just checking to see how i'm supposed to do that? I was told I could update my computers software to an 01-02 and that it is better for a few reasons. how can I go about doing this?
