Is not that easy on a clutch to clutch transmission, GM ran into alot of problems trying to come up with the calibration to control it.

I have a chance to get a 6L80e and need to know if it will fit behind a Gen IV 454 big block Chevy bored and stroked to 489 with aprox 560 ft lbs and 530 hp? What will I need to fit it? Flex plate, torque converter, internal beefing, rebuild ect.? I am planning to put it in My 67 Impala.

At this point......without an Gen IV LS EFI engine and the right engine controller (E38/E67) it will not run...apart from in permanent 3rd gear and badly.

That may change in the near future though....

Very impressive performance from the trans Chris. Sorry to hear about the motor exiting stage left. How many runs on the motor? What let go?

There you go trendsetters: 280+ runs on a 6L80E. With ~700Hp at the flywheel turning hi 9's lo 10's. And super consistent bracket times to boot.

Just like PG's, TH400's, 4L60's blah blah didnt hold any power until they were toughened up by the aftermarket and dedicated racers searching for results.

Thanks, but like they say "it didn't owe me anything" as I got just under 500 runs from it. I lost 3MPH by the 1/8th mile on my 4th pass that day and I was honestly hoping it was a valve spring issue but when I tore it down I found a crack in the number 5 cylinder.

700HP 500 runs. Cant complain about that. Stock LS7 liners? Crack in the thrust side vertically or some other crack?

I found that the durability of the 6L80 is actually pretty good. Mine lasted a LONG time before having to replace it.. I just got a new one from these guys https://reman-transmission.com/trans...des/?code=6L80 and she works like a charm. Just had to take it to the shop and have it installed and now im sittin pretty
