    HPTuners not working on laptop

I don't get it. I can install HPTuners on my PC in my house no problem. Now when I try to install it on my laptop I get a bunch of virus/unwanted program warnings. When it finally does install it won't find or install the interface. WTF? Is this a Windows 7 issue? I have Windows 7 on my laptop but Windows XP on the home PC. Help!

Sounds like an antivirus issue to me.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Correction. It's Windows Vista on my laptop and not Windows 7. Sorry about that. How would the anti-virus softwear prevent windows from detecting and installing the interface?

I've uninstalled the anti-virus softwear but still no luck. Windows vista will not find or install the interface. HPTuners installs no problem now but still no interface.

Did you install the drivers for the interface?

They won't install. It says "failed" whenever I try.

I've removed the drivers from the Device Manager and tried to re-install them. Still says "failed" and to contact HPTuners.

Now I get "code 39". Driver missing or corrupted. WTF!?! Just for channel "A". Channel "B" installed properly.

Well I guess Windows Vista is just f-ing garbage because it works fine with Windows XP.

I just tried it again on both my home PC with XP and my laptop with Vista. Installs without a problem on the home PC with XP. No luck on the laptop with Vista. Way to go Microsoft. Unreal.

Is it because I have version 2.22?

I have vista home edition on my laptop with no problems from 2.22 or the beta 2.23. Also you might try to download another malware\anti-virus program and see if it is an actual virus preventing you from installing anything, for instance maybe malwarebytes free. I have had this problem before.

Sounds to me like you are using a vista 64 bit operating system in which case you must install the signed drivers found here http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5228

That fixed it. Thanks a million. I was ready to set up the laptop for target practice. Haha. Just needed the 64 bit drivers.
