I am dying for the USB version as well. I need to turn the ^&*%* TM out of my 05 GTO. I heard it should be on sale before Thanksgiving, but I don't believe any quoted dates anymore.

even if the usb stuff comes out i would think the 06 stuff wont be out for a bit considering it its different from the 05 computer
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

The USB interface is done, tested and ready.

We are waiting on a few things from outside vendors. Namely the cases and faceplates. As SOON as we get that stuff in things can be assembled and start shipping. They told me 2-3 weeks from mid last week, but I can't do anything about it if they are late.

Re: when will USB be ready??

For a '99 'vette are the advantages of the USB interface other than not needing a USB to serial adapter if you don't have a serial port? Does it buy you anything else? Is it faster?

I'd like to know because I have a project that is bumping up against the USB RTM date (which is still TBD) and if it doesn't add any extra functionality or features I may just get a serial cable and USB to serial convertor.

A cable swap program would be neat to see as well. For a fee of course.

Re: when will USB be ready??

    current serial port units
only support gm vehicles & no ls2/CAN support
    no black box data logging
require usb adapter at consumers cost if you dont have a serial port

    soon to be released usb
will support gm, CAN, LS2, Ford, Chyrsler
    black box data logging
no usb adapters needed saving most money in the end

i doubt theres much "performance enhancement" with usb as far as frame rates but there are going to be more then enough advantages with it to make it worth while to most.

As far as the cable swap program im sure they'll offer something very similar to when their enhanced eio came out many moons ago.

Re: when will USB be ready??

Will there be a price difference between the current (serial) version and the new (USB) version?

    to add to this..
    there will be 2 units
Standard- No EIO capability and No "Black Box" Logging Capability
Professional - "Black Box" logging capability included..and optional EIO

Here is what KEN sent me about it...compiled from several messages I recieved
Black box is a bad term.

Only the EIO version has the logging capability.
There will be two hardware versions offered. Standard and Pro.
    Pro is the new EIO.

No logging is available on the standard version.

Ok, the new USB interface is an inline dongle like you see now, only nicer looking and programs Ford Dodge GM and Toyota (and probably a few others).

The pro version USB interface has an optional EIO connector on the side, 4 status LED's and two dome pushbuttons built into the label (Record/Stop).
