The EIO is the pluggable European type connector with screw terminals. No more pigtail.
(thats a much needed imporovement..I have repaired my current one several times with solder and new wire)
The firmware is field flashable, so it can be updated at any time.

Now that was pretty funny...as for the USB EIO...are the inputs the same as on the serial interface (as in, clip/strip the wires and screw them in to the same inputs as on my current unit)? Is the plug itself removeable?

Definitely...I'm already pinching my pennies for the upgrade. Plus I'm hearing rumors of a real time tuning solution...things are definitely progressing in the right direction.

I am sure its still removable (it would suck if it wasent).. its the same style connector that are showing up on some car audio amps these days.. very nice as you can run a few differnt gauge size wires into it, and then quick disconnect it..

I dont see why they would screw with the pinout (unless they added more inputs/outputs) so as far as converting goes i am sure its just a matter of cutting off the end of the old pigtail and stripping those wires and inserting them into the new connector.

i believe you will still need a laptop with the usb version to flash & read the files...but for just datalogging you can have just the box if you'd like.

As far as when it will be ready, the internals are done but they are still waiting on the cases & labels to come in.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
