    Gauge or Scanner?

In my Cobalt the dash gauge never seems to go over 20psi. But in my scanner logs I see pressures as high as 28+ psi. Which is more accurate? I have the stage one tune dealer installed plus HPT. Stock with drop in only.

Need to see your config table formulas. Do you have the RPD or a gauge?

I log both manifold pressure (MAP sensor) that tops out at 22.4 psi due to the scanner limitations but also log lower charge pipe boost pressure off the 3 bar MAP sensor voltage. I posted a thread on it here.

Had to trim the offset in the formula a bit to get the two readings to match at 22 psi. I see ~27 psi on the gauge at 3k in third and in the scanner with some restriction foolery in a wastegate sol line. Boost tapers to 20 psi @6300 rpm.

Nope, you need to create & log the custom PID's explained in the thread for the 3 bar MAP sensors.

    http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29306

I gave up posting my configs since the custom PID's never worked for anyone else, best to create your own.

Thanks broke. Do you think I should do the rod mod or the pill?

Shortening the WG rod works but will cause surge issues if you go too far with it. Pill is your best bet honestly. I have a small brass ball valve as an adjustable pill on my car. Works well and I can open or close it whenever I want very easily.

the way to share the custom pids is posting your config file and the vcm scanner.config file aswell from the hpt folder that's located in my documents. when I change from one laptop to a new one, I take the old vcm scanner config file and replace the new installs config file, then load up my lnf config. works like a charm.

Jax I seem to only be able to get up to 20psi gauge pressure, even after the stage one tune. What else can I try?

post your tune, should beable to tune for more than 20psi. even at high/low elevation it should be going higher.

Yes, that works with my own files but others haven't been able to use my custom PID's until they create their own. Maybe they had a different beta or something. IDK.

I tried the .030 pill again today on the GMPP base tune & my DAL tables, it boosted higher, but was no faster 60 -100. Took it out to spare the turbo & ring lands.

I see 24 psi controllably with 260 DAL's in the midrange, tapers to 17 psi at 6350 rpm.

Here's my current config & scanner setup if someone wants to try it.

Your DAL's are too high, but being limited by the Max Air Load Torque being too low.

Too high of DAL's too early IMO, makes for a touchy pedal. I left mine stock up to 80% then interpolated horizontally across 80 - 100 to blend the 90% column.

PE Lambda too rich for power and the inj disable table can be 15's in the right column to keep proper DFCO at coast without throwing a code.

You may want to consider modifying your COT table to match your PE table for speed runs or you will go pig rich under long pulls. If catless you can disable the COT table with all 1's in it.
Also, looks like you could add some timing, ramp it up to 14* in the high load high rpm columns and see how it responds. You may or may not be able to increase it above that depending on fuel & temps, fuel trims, ect.

    HTH.

check out the maf tuning thread and dial that in with everything else stock imo. that way you can really see the changes when you add boost and timing, then maf tune from there some more.

Thanks Jax I have been working on the MAF
Broke, I thought the MAL was what made it touchy? I was told to throw the DAL to the moon a while back B4 the GMPP tune so I just carrried it over. i noticed the GMPP tune added 1 degree of timing, yousay add some more?

Hows about some timing help? Am I changing the 11's to 14's in all four tables?

You have to taper them up in all four tables and log it to see if you get too much KR.

Load your tune and open the stock tune as a compare file. Add a few degrees up top in all 4 tables and log it for KR. Look at the differences between your tables and stock so you can see how you are changing it. Smooth it so it flows well. You may want to increase the numbers shown to 2 decimal places so you can see what's really in there. The stock tables have too much advance in some mid rpm mid load regions and not enough in others up top.

When I had the DAL's ramping up as early as you do when I went to roll around someone in 2nd, it'd smoke the tires when boost built.

If you only jack it up at the high end the drivability is better for me. I only need full tilt boogie when I floor it. Personal preference. YMMV.

Here's a timing table from last year when I was running 14* or so. It needs some smoothing in the highest load column though, you may see some KR on that big of step in the upper midrange. It's a starting point, just copy in the 2 far right columns if you want to try it.

I'm running more advance this year since the fuel trims are dialed in.
