anybody used GM part number 12581687 with an NGK AFX?

An Impala SS that I had to tune needed to have a bung added for the wideband (it was easier than trying to access the factory O2 sensors for removal). Long story short, the bung ended up destroying the threads on my NTK sensor when all was said and done. I'm pretty sure there's not enough left to salvage the threads with a chaser.

Having said that, I found that GM part number 12581687 is a cross reference for the NTK 24302 sensor, and it's significantly cheaper from GMPartsDirect.com than it is to buy an "NTK" sensor elsewhere. Has anybody confirmed that it's the same sensor?

I actually ordered one from there about 2 days ago, so I'll let you know. If I don't post up, bump the thread; I subscribed.

Also interested cause I've only got one sensor currently and if it takes a poo on me I'm screwed for a few day's without a sensor.

After doing a little research I've come to the conclusion that this is a Saturn V6 oxygen sensor part number that uses a Honda engine. The 2005 Honda Pilot uses the same NTK 24302 sensor that we use for our NGK AFX widebands, even the same plug from my unerstanding. So you can get the GM part number or look up an oxygen sensor for a 05 Honda Pilot at O'Reillys and it brings up Bosch, Delphi, and the NGK 24302. The Delphi o2 sensor is more than likely the GM sensor you guy's found the part number to. I'm not sure if it's a bosch style sensor or if it's an NTK style sensor but for $61.99 I'm willing to find out haha.

Due to a bad heater circuit in the sensor that came with my new AFX I've found that Bosch PN 15401 is a direct replacement for the sensor. It comes in a Bosch box, however it is stamped NTK on the sensor itself. It was $98 from the local auto zone.

Someone else previously mentioned the Saturn V6 sensor. I can't yet verify, however I've been told that Saturn and Cadillac cars both have sensors that will cross reference with this Bosch and run in the high $60 range. I gave the parts guy my bad sensor. He also has an AFX and is trying to find exactly what does work. Hopefully I'll hear back from him this evening.

    ...and it arrived today...

The sensor commonly used with the AFX is the NTK LZA08-H6

The sensor from GMPD is the NTK LZA08-H4.

What is the difference you ask? I don't know. I *DO* have a leaded race car that was dropped off at the shop today, so I may put this to the test tomorrow.

It's actually an NTK stamped sensor? Interesting.

The sensor body*looks* the exact same and the connector is the same.

It's going to be tomorrow before I get to try it.

Yeah I'd like to see some updates as well cause I'll probably buy 2 of them to keep as backup's when mine finally dies.

Gentlemen, I am a very large AcDelco distributor and on more than a couple of occasions allowed my NGK rep into my warehouse to open every single part # of AcDelco O2 sensor I have in stock to ID who makes them!!

Many, many are NGK units and many are Bosch!!!

The real question is whether or not the sensor is the same one that is offered as an upgrade, which is more tolerant and longer lasting.

This is what baffles me....there is no 'better' sensor...depending on what the use is, upstream, downstream, wideband, etc....they all use the same 'head' lets say. The wire length and plugs are the difference.

I've always been told the NTK sensor is more tolerant of nitrous and leaded fuel, and lasted longer.

NGK vs. Bosch....that I could understand that some 'may' think one is better....

I don't believe it's personal opinion... I am fairly confident that the Bosch sensor gets wrecked under extreme heat or leaded fuel usage.
