Antivirus program detecting virus in HPTUNERS

All the sudden while randomly trying to open my program tonight my anti virus program said hp tuners exe was a virus/worm and keeps deleting the program. The only way I can access the program is by turning off my virus program..whats going on!?

one of the av programs does that...i forget which. There have been a few threads on it...search the forum on the name of your antiviral program and see if you get a hit. If so, I think that theres a replacement free av program recommendation there.

I use windows security essentials on my pc without issue, avira mistakenly thinks our software is a virus.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Ive been runing Avast for years..and all the sudden this just popped up. It wont even let me download it off the site. Its doing it on my two laptops. It thinks the EXE is a work every time I open up the software and deletes the software.

I'm running Avira and HPT with no issues. No false positives.

    There were for two updates...

Avast removed HPTuner's Editor executable from my laptop during open house for the new shop today in front of a giant crowd of people while trying to demo a tune/car on the dyno. It was awesome

I set the HPT folder up as an exception and reinstalled, but it still sucked.

AVAST did the same thing to mine!!! Im guessing when the AV did its usual update something in there didnt like HPT. Now I cant even reinstall it on my pc. Its saying I need .NET framework 2.0 to install the program but I already have it..

Bill do you know the actual .exe path that I can input into the AV program so that it will just ignore it?

...where did you install the application to?

you should be able to right click on the shortcut to the app, go into properties, and find the path that way. If your AV app "cleaned" HPTuners up once, you should also be able to find the path in the AV app's history/log/etc

I had AVG on 3-4 boxes for years... there is a reason it was free for so long; it couldn't fix ANYTHING. You had to boot-out and even then, there were tons it just couldn't fix. The first move to Avira fixed infections that had been on the AVG boxes for years (and fixed them inside of Windows). AVG either didn't know about them or it did, but it couldn't fix them. I use Avast (again free) for Win7 64bit now... it's ok, a little slow on a really fast machine (though better than most bloatware that's out there) but it's free so I live with it.

Same or similar experience as Frost here:

    - Used AVG Free for years and thought I was good to go.
    - Ripped out AVG in favor of Avira Free which detected things that AVG missed
    - Recently I added Ad Aware Free which caught several trojans that Avira missed
