Broke are you running an Alky injection system or are you just playing with the fuel in the tank? Has anyone tried the Turbo Blue Unleaded?

Hes running it in the fuel, yes people have ran race gas. Hes looking for an alternative to running super expensive race gas 24/7.

I didn't know these care were flex fuel compliant? Isn't alcohol corrosive to fuel system unless it was designed for it?

In theory, but talk to all the Evo and Suby owners who've been running straigh E85 for many years without incident.

Since the intro of E10 years ago, most manufacturers switched over to seals & lines that don't degrade from it. I'll wear it out in the next 3 years anyway. If it makes 100k I'm parking it or selling it.

Ive got a flex fuel pump real close is that E85? The yellow pump? Mix half n half with prem?
My pickup is a flex vehical, but doesn't it sense the alcohol and adjust fuel n such automatically? Can I run it on my 25 psi tune no mods?

No, don't go higher than 4 gals of 93 to 1 gal of E85 (35%) and be prepared to dial in the MAF freq 6-7%. You better read the whole thread before you do anything.

I was reading the thread last night but it was a bit confusing. It seems that getting the right mixture from the pumps might be a hassle. Whats the max E85 that can be added with out mods? Just to help ping a bit in daily driving?

We're using E85 to run levels of boost + timing that pump gas wouldnt allow us.

Under my current tune I noticed a bit of knock at 25psi with in the lower rpm ranges and wondered if I could just pump a gallon or two on a tank of prem to rid myself of that knock without having to change tunes if E85 is sometime unavailable. Oh and thanks for putting up with noobness in your thread

A lot of the midrange knock logged is false IMO, depending on conditions, even with the E40 in her, I can still see 2-3* same as 93 octane, same midrange advance. It got worse with the lightweight flywheel I'm running as did phantom misfires. If you aren't seeing any at WOT, you are prob fine.

I'm actually getting more midrange knock than before. I had put in right under 1 gal to a quarter thank then today I put in 10 gal and 1.8 gal. gimpster, what kinda timing are you getting away with in the midrange wot? I havnt pushed the timing up any more yet and I'm still running .88. I actually didn't adjust my map at all yet, my ltfts were -3 bc I havnt adjusted my tune recently and now I'm at +1.6 ltft. I need to dial in my maf a little more but its only +2.5 at wot maximum.

Broke I was talking about knock you can actually hear! Not all the time but occasionaly when boost climbs to peak stoomping on it changing lanes yet gear is not high enough to rev up?

sounds like you need to adjust dals and your pe tables if yyour having audible knock on 93 octane.

true stuff^ to expound a bit there are a lot of articles and posts out there scaring people with the corrosion and eating rubber components myths.

where did these myths come from ? another alcohol called methanol which is highly corrosive , anything built in the efi age seems to tolerate ethanol which is the alcohol used in e 85 very well.

another myth is water in ethanol. Brazil uses ethanol a lot in fuel and they use hydrous ethanol , hydrous has water in it which isnt a problem in small quantities that stay in suspension but anyhow all ethanol in the US is federally mandated to be anhydrous ( water removed) allthough it "attracts" water to a certain extent but if you use your car regularly it shouldnt be an issue.

I applaud your platform for how actively you are persuing making power with e85 - it has been fun lurking

On DSM's the midrange phantom knock is almost always bogus. Thats why on DSMLink you can set conditions for ignoring the knock sensor. IE: 0-4500RPM when TPS=100% type of stuff. With our mechanical fuel pump and stuff, I bet its a somewhat noisy environment for the knock sensors.

Also this is going to sound really stupid, but I've mistaken what I believe to be LSD noise for light audible before. So make sure you're not just hearing the diff clunking around.

    Jaxon,

Here is a screen shot of timing map comparison (I run the same in all 4) compared to the stock intake/exhaust cam max table. I'm always hesitant to post actual timing maps on forums, mostly because I hate to see people copy/paste them in and have it go sideways

I'm going to be throwing in some E85 this weekend. Will provide updates when I can.

    Damn you Gimpster and IAB
