Laptop froze went into sleep mode flashing.

Ok now i have a serious issue. I was uploading the tune using write entire option. Walking away to use the bathroom really quick and laptop was in sleep mode. Now Hp tuners can't validate the VCM when i try to connect it again. Nor can i start the truck.

    Any ideas?

You should ALWAYS use write calibration only when applicable unless you are trying to change operating systems.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

You can take it apart, remove the SMD flash chip and reflash it on a bench programmer with a valid binary/image and remount it to the PCM's main board.

Other than that, there is a decently high probability that it's bricked.

Eh, E38's are pretty tough, likely not bricked.

quick key words of advise to anybody else who reads this...

make sure your laptop is not set to go to sleep for any reasons when you are using it to write tunes to your vehicle...

while it is understandable that most people use their personal laptops for tuning, it should be noted that it is always best to have a dedicated computer that has all automatic sleep and hibernation functions disabled.

with that being said... if you do use your personal every day laptop for your HPT.. then be sure you have turned off any automatic sleep and hibernation so that you dont get an accidental interruption during a writing procedure.
this includes making sure you have enough battery life to complete a write procedure.

I jumped right to the GenIII assumption.
