2.0 is a software up grade or hardware up grade. if i want 2.0 do i
have to send in the interface ,or maby a disc or via internet.

I believe it's both software and hardware.
Software will be downloadable via your customer logon. Existing hardware will work with it (I've been using my serial cable w/it w/no problems)
If you need LS2 support then however I believe it'll require sending your cable in to have it changed to the new cable.
