    Trans shift mode question

This may be a silly question, but i was thinking about this today.

We (we=truck owners) have the tow/haul shift pattern button, but say we wanted a 3rd transmission shift mode...Could we tap the wires to the transmission temp gauge and put in a switch and whatever else like resistors or what not, which would essentially max out the sensor reading and tell the computer the transmission is 'hot'- thus putting the transmission in to the 'hot' tables. You can -almost- do this with the 'cruise' portion, except that it cuts off when you touch the brakes.

Is this possible, or am I just way off base?

if you put the tranny into overtemp mode it might throw a tranny code. other than that i dont see why you couldnt "trick" it into thinking its overheated.
