    VCM Write Error

Had no problem reading my pcm at all. Changed something then went to do a write-calibration and it failed. Car wouldn't start. Been trying to Write the stock tune file back on and it keeps failing once it starts writing.

VCM Write Failed at loc: 9000 Error: Timed out

    Any help would be appreciated

    a. you shouldn't be doing write entire.
    b. sounds like you have a battery or wiring issue.

Because you started doing a write entire to fix your issues you will need to finish writing using write entire until it goes through now.

I've been thinking bad wiring is my issue.. Bought a new battery so I could rule out that one.
Guess i'll start looking at the wiring harness starting at the pcm/fusebox area. Do you think the pcm is fried?

This is very true... Guess I may be building one, or seeing if I can get ahold of one around here. Glad I should be able to recover it. Is there a problem spot in the wiring that I should be looking at that is usally the culprit for this error? or am I a first?

I've personally never seen a location error on a cobalt, a few times on colorado's which use the same pcm, usually turned out to be some aftermarket part that was installed inline with the pcm that was interrupting comms.

Well I have my gauges and my deck. Dont think I wired them inline with the pcm, but I will deffantely disconnect every electronic I've put in and see if this fixes it.
Thanks for the help so far

Well disconnected every aftermarket electronic on the car.
It seems that Error loc 9000 doesnt come up anymore. It still fails writing at the same location, but now I get Error loc A000.

usually turns out to be some aftermarket part that was installed inline with the pcm that was interrupting comms, I would start looking for aftermarket parts such as ipod adapters, etc.
