    Standalone logging not working.

I had my MVPI Pro for about a week now and logging to the laptop is working
great however I cannot get it to log in standalone mode. I have followed the
instructions in the "MPVI Pro Standalone Data Logging" section of the help
file, another set of similar instructions I found on a form, and I
even took the MPVI in the house and set it up with a table of only about 10
things I wanted to log for an autocross. Still nothing.

When connected to the PC I have a power light and see the busy light flash
if I am saving configs or clearing the logs. There is no power light with
the car running and the MPVI plugged into just the OBD II port (not the USB cable).

I have version 2.22.3152.18236 & 2.23.147 Beta on two laptops both running W7. I have the separate drivers downloaded and installed on both.

I have tried different times holding the record button down from less that a
    second to 1, 2, 3, 4 and more seconds.

I have read the VCM and saved the file from my 2005 Cavalier but have not
licensed anything yet. From what I have read this should not be an issue.

Am I missing something? If I am you can just get me a link or the page in
the instructions and I will give it another go.

---below is the reply from support---
We recently found that our spi chip maker(the chip that holds the standalone
datalogging memory) changed the chip id number, we are working on a fix for
    this via a firmware update.
    ------------------------------------
HP Support (Bill) also said that he has seen this issues effects serial numbers that start with 1120 & 114X.

I was sent 2.23.150 beta to fix an issue with the VCM Scanner not reading older (2.22) log files. The log file issue has been fixed but I have not tested the standalone logging yet.

I have the same issue. I've never been able to have use the stand alone feature on my Pro interface. So is the fix, a software update to the scanner software?

Ultimately it will be a firmware update as its not a software issue for the most part, basically the company we purchase our memory chips(spi chip) changed the PN of their chip so when our hardware polls that chip the chip returns a different PN and says "not happening", we're working on finalizing the firmware update this week so hopefully all goes well.

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

In that case your interface is not affected and you should contact support.

This issue is our top priority and is what we're currently working on.

I don't have an ETA for a fix yet but we hope to have this ready ASAP.

Bummer, I can't get mine to work either. My serial number starts 11471xxxxx

I can't leave the laptop on the seat at the track. Any other work arounds?

Well, I have my EIO running through a 12-foot USB cable.
Plenty long enough to let the laptop go behind the seat
    on the floor.

Keith has been testing some new firmware and will hopefully have the final results(yay or nay) by the end of next week. From there we'll likely stuff it into an old build so we don't break anything in the current beta program.

The firmware is done & tested and just need to compile it into a software build now, likely sometime next week from the looks of it.

Theres a new beta ready that I've sent out to a few people but if you have immediate access to a vehicle that you can test on(I really need it tested ASAP) please email support with a link to this thread and your serial number and I'll send you the update but I really need results quickly so I can send it out on a mass basis.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Well, preliminary results are good, first test case reported they were able to standalone datalog without issue so all systems go from here on out.

Hi Bill, I'm currently at work and don't have my serial number with me but I'm quite sure my MPVI unit is affected by the CPU name change issue. I bought it via Summit around October 2010.

Is your fix available in a firmware 114 download like I saw elsewhere on the forums or do I need to download 2.23 beta to get the fix?

    Thanks - Jon
