I am still running the beta for tuning a 2010 camaro. They already have tuners tuning the new 2011 mustangs and f150's while we are waiting on support. From what I see, they pretty much have the software for whatever the time it comes out. Do they have inside help or what?
I assume they do, every company in this business has their own connections, running a beta version to tune a newer application doesn't mean much other than we haven't released a new public build.
They also don't offer custom operating systems for any application which often takes time away from us adding new applications
They also charge a yearly fee for each license you have for their tunershops to keep you up to date
And their EULA is pretty restrictive from what I've read and has turned many off
Pretty sure they have a much larger staff than we do as well which in some cases can move new support along faster
Bottom line is we do the best with what we currently have.

I understand where you are coming from. I was just curious about the process. How long do you think it will be before the new ford 5.0 will be in beta or before We can start tinkering with the software with HP Tuners?
We have no eta for the newer ford pcm's at this time, they changed pcms for the 2011 mustang as well as the 2009 fseries trucks.
When you are talking about just adding new operating system support for a pcm we already offer read support for thats one thing and we can usually map them out in a few days, adding support for new pcms requires us to source one of the pcm's(I've found this to be the hardest part) and then to actually be able to communicate with it.

Yup.
Can't compare HPT's Ford coverage to SCT. That's their bread and butter.
I bought the DS Ford software, just to try and get away from SCT. Don't even get me started on SCT. Bottom line, I will do any and every thing I can to tune cars without the added expense of handhelds. When a company wants to charge me out the nose for updates, that everyone else in the industry GIVES away, and then on top of that, makes me buy a handheld device just to upload and download to the car............And then on top of THAT, makes me use a dongle that they can at any time, for any reason they deem appropriate, EFFECTIVELY TURN OFF!!!! Maybe you don't use it enough or you don't buy enough product, whatever. You're leasing the software until they decide otherwise. Damn, like I said don't get me started.
The only reason I even signed the damn EULA is because if I didn't the almost 2K investment I have will be useless. Like I said, I've bought the DS for Fords just to get away from using SCT. I tune all the 05 and up 'Stangs using HPT. Just spent 2 days tuning a pretty radical Mustang when I could have done it MUCH quicker using SCT, JUST SO I CAN DEVELOP MY OWN FILES IN HPT. I spent a lot of time comparing the same cal in HPT to SCT, and let me tell ya, there's enough tables there to get this pretty radical combo running well, and making pretty big power.
