    New Laptop recomendations

Found out my windows 2000 laptop is not going to work with the latest beta. What would you guys recommend as min requirements to run hptuners as well as bigstuff, xfi, msd, and a few other auto related aps. Battery life would be a priority for 2 hour trip data logs. I use a serial port for most of the other apps. I suppose there is an adapter for that or do laptops ever come with one of those still?? Here is a basic Dell vostro 1014 would it be a good fit???

    thanks

If you are looking for a 14" I think there are better choices.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

I just picked up a Lenovo ( IBM) laptop for about $450.00.

Im currently setting it up as my new tuning laptop and have to reinstall my HP Tuners, wideband, and spread sheets.

i like the 17 inch monitors and like at least four hours of battery life for street tuning.

it has a AMD phenom II N660 dual core processor and dedicates a processor to the programs im running. So im hoping that while scanning a car it will dedicate a processor just to that since I wont be surfing or doing graphics. Im hoping this will allow the scanner to work a little faster without seeming to be slow.

I get a new laptop each year for tuning and pass the last one down to the kids. I dont like to spend more than $600.00

A Netbook isn't a bad idea, either. 250-300 bucks gets you one perfect for portability and tuning. As long as the 10" screen isn't too small.

Buy today because the deal will be gone at midnight. 17.3" screen and it'll run HPT no problem. Hard to pass up. I just bought the 17.3" HP refurb they had two weeks ago which has a bigger hard drive, bigger battery, and is faster all around.

Yeah thats pretty much the one I bought back in Jan...not a bad laptop...the only gripe I have is the touchpad, other than that its one of the best laptops I've ever had, super relyable thus far.

Can you tell me more about the deals over the next few days, and where if you don't mind me asking?

Don't forget newegg.com. Not only are there good deals, but you get to see real user reviews of the hardware, too.

They build my gaming laptop for $800. You can get a good utility laptop a bit cheaper. And you get all name brand components, without having to spend hours deleting the "free" crap that comes on new computers.

    Lenovo

My Lenovo T-510 with Win7 Pro has been rock solid stable and a great tuning platform with exception of the touch pad. Its very temperamental. I have been working with the settings and have about 80% of it worked out.

I just picked up a Dell Latitude e7270 from ebay for $350. Its a 12" business laptop thats robust, and not flimsy. Has a i7 CPU, 256Gb M.2 SSD and 16Gb Ram. The size is perfect for using in vehicle. I also have a 15" laptop that was really too large to have in your lap or in the passenger seat, which is why i purchased this 12" Dell. This little laptop is a beast, i would highly recommend getting one of these or something similar. It runs HP Tuners flawlessly, and is quite speedy too. In my opinion, 11 or 12" laptops are ideal for using in vehicle.
