What PCM do I need for engine swap

I just swaped the 5.3L out of my truck for a 6.0L, I have a friend that wants to put my 5.3L in a 1986 C-10. I have the wiring harness that came with the 6.0L, it is out of a 2003 GMC savana 3500, but I need a PCM. I have VCM suite for my 2002 Silverado, so I would have to get a PCM with a 2002 VIN # right? so I can disable VATS and other things. Do 2002 and 2003 PCM's have the same pinouts?

You are going to need a VCM that matches your Make, Model and year of cable/software support. If you have been using your software on 2002 Trucks, then you need a VCM from a 2002 truck so the VIN will match.

I can reprogram a 2000, 01 ,03 VCM to a 2002 with my Tech 2 and SPS package. The Hardware numbers MUST match on the VCM's.

I was told the 5.3 6.0 share the same VCM's with the same hardware numbers, but I have not confirmed this.

The 2002 5.3 has a cable throttle body but the 6.0L went to an electronic throttle body.

I would just modify the 5.3 calibration for a 6.0L if you are using a cable throttle. Saves headaches...

is going from the 5.3 to a 6.0 with the same PCM just changing a single parameter? or do we have to do anything else like with the different CAM specs?
